Ever since the 1970's, the rapid economic growth and the developments of the welfare and the medicine have brought about the increase of the elderly households with 1 person who is over 65 years old. And, due to this, the social problems regarding the senior citizens who live alone have rapidly increased, including the suicides, murders, loneliness deaths, human rights problems, etc. As a plan for solving such problems, the government has been intending to introduce 'the U-Care System for the elderly who live alone' based on the Internet-of-Things (IOT) technology to the households of the elderly who live alone. This project, which has been carried out from 2007, has, at present, gone beyond the pilot phase, and the trend has been such that the within-family introduction has been getting universalized. But, the present system has such problems as the insufficiencies of the budget and the manpower, the lack of the portabilities and functionalities of the web-based monitoring system and the emergency pager devices, the malfunctions of the tag devices, etc. As such, the preventions of, and the coping with, the emergency situations are unstable. And, regarding the advanced researches, too, they are limited to the extent of planning the solution and establishing the platforms. Hence, the specific detail designs of the problem solutions are needed. As a plan for solving such problems, according to the falling of the wearability and the portability of the existing system, this research intended to seek the points of improvement through a wearable device so that the existing system that has not been universalized can be easily worn and carried by the elderly who live alone who have the insufficient abilities to engage in activities. And it intended to propose a design for the smartphone app. UI, with which the life manager can monitor in real time the condition of the resources that he or she is in charge from the outside. Through the theoretical considerations, this research instilled the problems and needs of the research. And, through the UI analyses and benchmarking of the children's kids phone JOON2 and the UI of the Olleh Ttok-Ttok, the design range and the orientation of the results intended to be proposed in this research were established. For a more actual understanding of the present situation, the in-depth interviews were carried out with 7 life managers. And, through the details organization, the points to be supplemented and the inconveniences of the previously existent system and the needs needed when managing the resources were arrived. By using the affinity diagrams, regarding the interview details that were arrived at, they were classified into the 103 representative behaviors organized with the 12 headers. And, through the pattern analyses, the resultant data were arrived at. Based on the resultant values, 2 types of persona (the elderly who live alone and the life managers) were designed. The 16 requirements regarding the wearable devices for the use by the elderly who live alone and the mobile apps for use by the life managers and the 12 needed functions that can meet such requirements were arrived at. Based on the needed functions drawn above, the Help Me Home terminal and the UI design of the app were designed. In the case of the Help Me Home terminal, with the simple interface possessing the 4 sending functions of Malbeot 1, Malbeot 2, the center, and SOS, the accessibility of the users was heightened. And the automatic measurement of the condition information, the warning notice, and the schedule notice function were designed in the built-in form. As, in the case of the Help Me Home app., a lot of the functions must be provided compressively in one app., it was designed with a relatively simple functional structure with the 6 functions of the present situation monitoring, the checking of the personal information, the statistics of the contact frequencies, the location check, the set-up, and the SOS. Also, the use flows of the Help Me Home terminal and the app. were designed according to the performance duties in each menu. And the design screens were presented as the prototypes through the detailed wireframes. And, based on this, 23 movement scenarios were proposed. Regarding the design results, their usability evaluations were requested again to 4 life managers. And, based on the 10 improvement proposals that were arrived at, the prototype designs were improved. This research was carried out based on the process of analyzing the user experiences regarding the care and the management for the elderly who live alone by the life managers. And, through the proposed UI, the problem of the life manager of the inefficiency of the work of having to access the weak system for the elderly by sitting in front of the computer for the situation monitoring has been alleviated. As such, the accurate understanding of the condition information of the resources from the outside became possible. So, it is anticipated that the management of the many resources will become possible with a small number of the personnel. It is highly expected that, thanks to this, the national budget regarding the dispatches of the manpower can be reduced, thereby achieving the economic effects.
