An important feature of the language is easy to vary, and general characteristics of variation are likely to draw loanword. Nowadays, increasingly frequent exchanges occur between the countries, the proportion of loanword in the language is growing. Korean and Chinese are not exceptional cases either. This thesis focuses on the borrow scheme of loanword in Korean and Chinese, as well as comparative analysis on phonology, morphology, and semantics when Korean and Chinese absorb other languages.
Chapter 1, research aims and methods are proposed first, and the investigation on previous study is also presented.
Chapter 2, theoretical investigation on loanword concept in Korean and Chinese is carried on.
Chapter 3, taking loanword in the dictionary as object, they are classified into five forms: transliteration, free transcription, mixed translation, loanword expressed by foreign letters, and word borrowed from Japanese. The analysis is made by comparing the commonalities and differences between Korean and Chinese loanword in the form.
Chapter 4, it focuses on the comparative analysis of two countries absorbing loanword from languages based on characteristics of the resulting changes from three levels phonology, morphology, and semantics.
Exchanges between South Korea and China increase frequently, and thus exchange between the two languages is becoming increasingly important, and loanword takes up a certain percentage in the two languages. It is expected that the completion of above analysis is helpful to Chinese who are learning Korean as well as Korean who are learning Chinese.
