'Korean Textbook' has a great influence on primary school student's improvement for Korean linguistic ability. Accordingly, this study was to analyze the actual state of application of loanword in the <<Reading>> textbook of primary school.
When natives borrow a word from foreign language system and most of natives utilize the word by assimilating into it, the word is called loanword. The results of this study are as follows.
1. Such loanwords related with daily life as television, bus, piano, shirt, computer, computer game, radio, gas, and so forth were utilized frequently. The specialty of loanwords such as computer and Internet was decreased gradually according to the change of living environment and the words were also changed into practical words.
2. Word that was used frequently and showed high level in the scope of appearance had a high applicability(importance). Proper nouns were utilized frequently but they reached 1 in the scope of appearance, so their applicability(importance) was low.
3. The contents of unit had a big influence on the application of loanword. In case of foreign literature, drama, and biography, proper nouns were used frequently due to the characteristic of writings. Applied proper nouns are Gandhi, Cinderella, Sydney, Alsace, Teresa, Tom, Santa Claus, France, and so on. In addition, there were many writings to introduce Korean traditional customs and transmitted fairy tales, thus the importance of the application of loanword was not high.
4. Hybrid mixing Korean word with loanword was applied. For example game기, golf장, asphalt길, apart촌, christmas날, clover꽃, france어, and so on.
5. Proper nouns that were difficult to change into Korean language were mainly applied, thus loanwords were not overused from the <<Reading>> textbook of primary school. However, loanwords replaceable with Korean language were used as they were. For example drama, tunnel, clover, cameraman, and so on.
Through this study, it's possible to make clear the system and actual state of loanword for learning by researching and studying loanwords applied from all subjects. Studies to research loanword from textbook including this study can bring a change for the education of language and the achievement of teaching.
