The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of an integrated suicide prevention program on elderly depression, self-esteem, and suicidal ideation that was conducted for four weeks. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted on 36 participants who have received a long-term day-care service in four day-care centers found in Jeju city. 18 participants were assigned to the experiment group, and 18 participants were assigned to the control group. SPSS 18.0, a computational statistic program has run to see the effects of the program. To verify the homogeneity of the control and experimental groups, Chi-square cross analysis and Mann-Whitney U-test, and to see the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up effects, Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed Rank test were conducted. Results show that the average level of depression in the experimental group was 7.06 (pre-test), 5.61 (post-test), and 5.78 (follow-up test). It was 6.22 (pre-test), 9.17 (post-test), and 9.06 (follow-up test) for the control group. That is, the post-test measure showed that the level of depression in the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group. Relating to the self-esteem of the elders, the average level of the experimental group was 2.64 (pre-test), 2.89 (post-test). and 2.68 (follow-up test). And it was 2.61 (pre-test), 2.57 (post-test), and 2.56 (follow-up test) for the control group. Thus, the program has a positive impact on the self-esteem of the elderly people. The average level for the suicidal ideation of the experimental group was 5.69 (pre-test), 3.35 (post-test), and 3.78 (follow-up test). While it was 5.53 (pre-test), 5.46 (post-test), and 5.64 (follow-up test) for the control group. Therefore, the integrated program of this study has a statistically significant impact on decreasing the elderly suicidal ideation. As a result, the social measure to the elderly suicidal ideation has to be an early state (initiative) preventive and intervening act than implementing programs like that of the present study, and it is necessary to develop and implement a suicide prevention programs. Through this study, it is found that 1) it is necessary to have a continuous, and professional program development and research through local welfare centers' cooperation. 2) it is necessary to have an organized professional discussion about an integrated elderly suicide prevention programs. 3) subsequent studies are needed to develop a purpose and an evaluation index that is necessary to develop a policy and implement it. And 4) an individual qualitative research is necessary. Keywords: elderly suicidal ideation, elderly depression, elderly self-esteem, suicide prevention, elderly suicide ,韩语论文网站,韩语论文范文 |
