This discusses ways of providing advanced Korean language learners with Korean culture education commensurate with their level with the influx of international students in Korea and foreign learners of Korean for academic purposes. A strong culture education is essential to understand different modes of thinking and lifestyles in the process of acquiring a language. This study is mainly concerned with traditional bier funeral culture, which was considered so sacred and complicated that it was not able to be dealt with in class even if it is the basis idea of Korean. The traditional bier funeral culture reflects Korean people’s view on life and death. In modern society, most of the formalities and procedures of the bier funeral have been streamlined and transformed into Confucian tradition. However, the basis remains the same such as sharing the food with the family in mourning and staying up all night playing games. Although Korean bier funeral is a very crucial factor in Korean culture in terms of Korean people’s belief in life after death, there are few Korean language textbooks about Korean bier funeral. One of the advanced-level textbooks tries to cover Korean bier funeral quite specifically, but it does not explain in details. For this reason, this study suggests making good use of a play as a means of teaching Korean language learners about Korean bier funeral more easily and more authentically. A play is a dramatic work intended for performance on a stage, so it is written in a colloquial style. This makes a play perfect teaching material for Korean language education. In addition, nonverbal communication behaviors such as gestures, facial expressions, or intonation help foreign learners comprehend its meaning with ease. Moreover, classes can be full of diverse educational activities thanks to quality audio and video material, which learners can have access to on their own. This , based on other previous studies, suggests guidelines for choosing a proper play which is for Korean culture education. Also, this demonstrates how to teach Korean traditional bier funeral using two plays selected by these guidelines. In particular, this study focuses on the ways the characteristics of a play can be applied to Korean language classes. ,韩语论文网站,韩语论文范文 |
