The purpose of this study is to develop Korean for academic purpose curriculum for majoring in Korean studies with the background of North American colleges. To develop the Korean language curriculum, the study analysed the Korean language curriculum of the department of East Asian Studies at North American Universities, Korean language teaching and learning status of the Department of East Asian Studies at University of Alberta, and the Korean-language learning students’ needs. The result of the analyses showed that the Koran for academic purpose curriculum is based on the format of KGP, KGAP, KSAP and KSP education in general. However, KAP education was not so strong to link the basic level of Korean language learning to the academic purpose of Korean studies. Because of this weakness, most of the courses relating to Korean studies are run through the medium of English, and also KSAP courses focus on readings related to the study topics, which leads the curriculum to be constructed to emphasize and improve the vocabulary and reading skills. The Department of East Asian Studies of University of Alberta aims to develop the areas of linguistics, culture, and literature as Korean studies concentration. Overall students are motivated by and interested in Korean popular culture through mass media, and prefer to learn more about the areas of Korean society and culture, and translation. The students perceive that Korean language competency, and especially KAP, is essential in pursuing Korean studies as a concentration area for their major or minor. Based on the analyses, the study developed KAP curriculum for majoring Korean studies through critically embracing the curriculum of North American colleges and reflecting the departmental educational goals and students’ needs of the Department of East Asian Studies. The curriculum proposes KAP goals and objectives, course designs, teaching and learning approaches and assessment. It includes 4 domains of KGP, KGAP, KSAP and KSP in the KAP program and is developed to connect each domain as well as to reflect the characteristics of each and to maintain connectivity to the Korean studies. ,免费韩语论文,韩语论文范文 |
