Idiom is a country's national culture and one of the means of expressing the country's people's way of thinking and has a unique language form. Due to the characteristics, the status of idiom is important in the national language. Idiom is widely used by the natives in daily life, but it is hard to understand for foreigners. This aims to compare and analyze the idioms of sadness in Korean and Chinese. By comparing the Korean and Chinese idioms of sadness in the concept, semantic and structural aspect, similarities and differences are demonstrated. This thesis expounds the meaning and characteristic of the idioms of sadness in Korean and Chinese, and classifies the formation and compare in the vocabulary. Consequently, in term of body, there are more idioms on sadness in Korean than that of in Chinese and it is obviously that the idioms concerning bodies on sadness between Korean and Chinese are different. The process phenomenon idioms are more than results phenomenon idioms in the idioms of sadness in Korean. But results phenomenon idioms are more than process phenomenon idioms in the idioms of sadness in Chinese. By researching the characteristics of sentence structure of idioms of sadness in Korean and Chinese, this compares the classification according to grammatical organization. Consequently, structure of Chinese idioms are more complicated than Korean. And the idioms of sadness in Chinese is rich and varied in structure of idioms. The shows the most of the idioms are composed of verb phrase in the idioms of sadness in Korean and Chinese.
