This study investigates the phonological characteristics of speech sound productions in conversational speech in Korea children and Chinese children by age 3. It is to compare the consonant by the 『Assessment of Phonological and Articulation for Children: APAC)』, and to analyse and explain learning error of the Chinese children. The application of articulation tests for the Korean language were administered and the analyses of the phonological error patterns were conducted
Vocabulary items for this study are 43 words were selected as informants by 20 chinese children and 20 korean children.
The order of the learning error is very similar for the children in China and South Korea, but the results of this study is different from previous studies, South Korean children's error rate is higher than the children in China. the most frequently found errors were stopping, liquid deletion and tensing.
The results depicted developmental phonological error patterns in Korean conversational speech for the children of multi-cultural family. In addition, the clinical implication was discussed with respect to developmental speech disorders.
