In the modern society, a job is not just a way to make one’s living but it also helps the society and one can find one’s purpose through a job. A job is also a process for self-realization, making one’s living and social contributions.
This study aims to investigate how the considerable differences on the occupational consciousness between perceptions of Korean and Chinese students. And what is the status of occupational consciousness of Korean and Chinese students.
In order to pursue the purpose of this study , literatures on the occupational consciousness were surveyed. This study compared the occupational consciousness between Korean and Chinese students. The field investigation into 200 Korean students and 200 Chinese students respectively was conducted by means of questionaries on occupational consciousness. The collected date were statistically analyzed using SAS 9.2 for Windows.
The research findings are as follows : Korea and Chinese students have plans for their future job. Many students have interest in jobs. Students recognize what abilities they need for the job. They were the side who knows college degree knowledge or information on the employment in common. To get the information for the future career, the students usually consulted their parents not their homeroom teachers or counseling teachers. They commonly were heard of parents that may have the greatest impact figures on their career or career choices. So, it is necessary to develop various career counselling program at level of university. This means that the more guidances are required for them. They showed that want to work only until the age of 60. Korean and Chinese students showed visible differences on long-term employment in the service, high maintenance and stability of society. Korean students have more knowledge about the details in their future job compared with Chinese students.
