In the process of learning, textbooks are one of the most important elements in achieving the educational goals. The number of people who wants to learn Korean in Thailand has been increasing year by year, as the Korean language has been recognized as one of the most influential languages in the international societies. However, the development of various textbooks in Thailand, which meet the requirements of learners, is still staying in the incipient stage, especially the development of textbooks for self-study audiences which sold in general bookstores, and which can be easily reached by any readers. In this study, 7 representative textbooks are chosen as the subjects of study, as they are divided into 4 different types: The books written by Thai, the books written by Korean who teach Korean Language in Thailand, the books published in Korea and translated into Thai and the book written by non-Thai and Korean but translated into Thai and sold in Thailand. Then, they are analyzed and compared, Together with the data from analyzing and comparing, the proposals of further development of Self-study textbooks are suggested.
In Chapter I, the aim and the method of this study, and the contents which will be discussed in the later parts are described and the studies which are related to Korean textbooks are reviewed. Through this process, it is recognized that the study of analyzing Korean textbooks in Thailand is still need to be improved.
In Chapter II, the definition of textbook, features, functions, various theories arguing over the textbook analysis, the present situation of Korean textbooks in Thailand, and selection of subjects of study and the standard of analysis are also reviewed.
In Chapter III, the subject of study textbooks which mentioned in Chapter II are analyzed and compared according to the stand standard of analysis.
In Chapter IV, the results of analyzing and comparing are revealed, and together with the data from analyzing and comparing, the proposals of further development of Self-study textbooks are suggested.
In Chapter V, the conclusion of the thesis, and the meaning of the study are mentioned. In addition, further study is absolutely necessary for the improvement of Korean Textbooks development in Thailand.
