This thesis considers Korean verb “dooda” as the research object. It finds out the corresponding meaning of “dooda” in Chinese language based on the collective meaning, which is summarized through a variety of major dictionaries. The purpose of the study is to identify the differences between the two languages on the meaning and the usage of “dooda”, and to help Chinese students be able to use the word “dooda” in real life in the future.
The first chapter mainly states the purpose and necessity of the study. It also selects the research object, introduces the research methods, and carries out a simple summary and exposition of previous studies.
The second chapter summarizes the similar meanings and usages of the word “dooda” through collecting and comparing the recorded meanings and usages of “dooda” from various dictionaries like “Standard Korean Dictionary”, “Yonsei Korean Dictionary” and “Our Language Dictionary”. Subsequently, in the same way, it selects the corresponding meaning of Chinese language with the Korean verb by summarizing the meaning from “Well-Chosen n Dictionary”, “Modern Chinese-Korean Dictionary” and “Korean-Chinese Dictionary”. At the same time, through the explanation of “Modern Chinese Dictionary”, it finds out the corresponding meaning of “dooda” in Korean language.
In the third chapter, through the translation of the example sentences in these dictionaries, based on the analysis of the meaning of Korean verb “dooda”, this thesis finds the corresponding expression in Chinese language after considerable sorting and analysis of the information. Meanwhile, through the questionnaire, this thesis helps Chinese students to understand the usage of Korean verb “dooda”. Then, by combining the students’ answers with the selective meaning of “dooda”, it makes a comparative analysis and reaches a conclusion on why the students make mistakes. Through this way, it enables students to use “dooda” properly in their daily life in the future.
Finally, in the fourth Chapter, while arranging the results of this research, it proposes the potential research subjects in the future as well.
