The relationship between Arabs and Koreans has been developed through the past few years. And among this development there was a huge interest in translation for the literary works from both sides. This study aims to find the problems that might face the translators form Korean into Arabic while translating literature especially when it come to translate the cultural elements in the text.
This thesis is divided into 5 chapters. In the first one, we give an introduction to the topic. In addition to that, there is also a brief introductory for the other thesis that dealt with the Korean-Arabic Translation. The second chapter shows alternative translation theories that help in dealing with topic in this thesis. In general this chapter contains two parts. The first talks about the cultural translation from both linguistic and sociological view. The other parts shows the different methods of translation concentrating on literal translation theories.
The third chapter is an analysis for two different translations for two korean literary works. The works which are analyzed here are Yi snag’s The wings, and Che’man shik's My innocent Uncle. Each translation is analyzed in 2 stages. The first one deals with the words comparing the two translations with the source work. The second one concentrates on the cultural translation mistakes in each translation separately.
In the forth section, we try to make suggestions for how to improve the quality of the translation and how to avoid the mistakes discovered in the third chapter. The fifth section is a brief summery for the thesis.
