This study has the purpose of proposing the direction of the culture education for marriage immigrant women by analyzing the Korean culture textbook for marriage immigrant women based on the value system for the inter-cultural communication ability of the marriage immigrant women. Most of the marriage immigrant women are having much difficulties in adapting themselves to the Korean society due to the lingual and cultural differences. This study has proposed that the Korean culture education should be made in a way to understand the Korean value system in order to solve conflicts occurring due to the lack of the inter-cultural communication ability among these difficulties. This study has also considered that the textbook for the marriage immigrant women should be composed based on the cultural content of Korean value system and thus has tried analysis of the textbook.
The analysis textbook was the language and culture chapter of 『Korean shared with marriage immigrant women 1-6』. The above textbook was considered to be most appropriate in analyzing the value system since it is composed of most representative and various contents among Korean textbook for marriage immigrant women. The analysis method has classified the Korean value system into 5 categories which are the groupism, power difference, masculinity, high level of avoidance of uncertainty and Confucian dynamism based on the culture classification standard by Hofstede(1980) and detailed culture scopes were classified by referring to the studies by Choi Jun-Sik(1997) and Gang Hyun-Hwa(2007) etc. The textbook for marriage immigrant women has been analyzed based on the value system by taking the 9 detailed classification standard as the analysis frame which are the family culture, our culture, share culture, relation culture, culture of honor, sequence culture, masculine culture, destiny culture and long-term oriented culture.
The 『Korean shared with marriage immigrant women 1-6』has been analyzed based on Hofstede(1980)'s culture classification standard, and the result showed the order of big difference of power> masculinity> high avoidance level of uncertainty> Confucian dynamism> etc. Also, the analysis result based on the detailed culture scope showed that there is value system ration in the order of sequence culture> masculine culture> culture of honor and destiny culture> relation culture> long-term oriented culture and family culture> our culture. And, there did not show the share culture value system culture scope. Thus, it was shown according to the textbook analysis result that the Confucian dynamism(long-term oriented) was less shown relatively compared to the value system like difference of power and groupism etc.
In fact, the Korean textbook for marriage immigrant women should also reflect the modern culture element by considering the fluid value system which changes. There is inconveniences about this study since it has tendency of leaning too much toward the center of value system based on the traditional values not on the modern culture. However, the content of culture which is more various and of better completion which can embrace up to the modern culture scope will be able to be established from now on if the value system which can express well the characteristic of Korean culture is studied step by step. Also, this study has its limitation in that it has not been able to survey regarding the value system of the cultures of the marriage immigrant women for the enhancement of inter-cultural communication ability since it analyzes only the value system of Korean culture which appear in the textbook for marriage immigrant women. Thus, a scheme needs to be established which lets Koreans learn amply the value systems of nations of marriage immigrant women from the cross-cultural point of view for the education of Korean language which can enable the true inter-cultural communication.
Although there are some limitations to be supplemented, the analysis of the textbook for marriage immigrant women based on the value system is rarely found in studies so far. Thus, this has meaning in that it has analyzed the textbook for marriage immigrant women based on the value system. It is hoped that the education of the marriage immigrant women will be made systematically from now on also and the textbook which expresses the Korean culture system well like 『Korean shared with marriage immigrant women 1-6』 shall be published in much quantity. Furthermore, it would be much better if textbooks which can enhance the inter-cultural awareness of Korean people who live with marriage immigrant women in the multi-cultural society shall be published.
Also, the education of Korean culture for the marriage immigrant women can be of good help for the Korean language ability and is closed related to the lives of them and thus is very important. While this education is implemented mostly by the Korean language teacher, textbooks for self-study and multimedial textbooks will be needed for those marriage immigrant women who are not well educated due to their circumstances. Thus, the textbook is seen to have more important meaning to the marriage immigrant women. Composition of systematic Korean culture textbooks and affluent content are required so that the marriage immigrant women can receive the Korean culture education easily anywhere and any time. To accomplish this, it is important to compose the textbook in a way which lets the marriage immigrant women understand step by step starting from the most characteristic element of Korean culture, not only enumerating all the cultures in a complicated way.
Thus, the step-specific and scope-specific value system which suits the characteristic of marriage immigrant women shall have to be established as soon as possible and systematic and various textbook with the content which suits this system shall have to be arranged. For this, more studies on what culture education content is needed for the marriage immigrant women and what the Korean culture's characteristics are etc shall have to be made and the content should be made in a way to suit the actual purpose.
