The number of multicultural families has been increased because of the high rate of international marriages. That reason makes people to lead the interest of Korean education. Married immigrant women want not only to perform the role of parents and bring up their children but also to be a member of Korea. Therefore, it needs more systematic study skills for female married immigrant women to improve the ability of Korean language and culture continuously rather than foreigners who have another intention.
So, we should compose the content of textbook for female married immigrants to help to adapt well in Korea and acquire self-identity as members of our nation.
As a result of analyzed contents in beginner levels of textbooks about Korean language, the goal of cultural education with textbooks is to acquire the basic communication skills needed in real life. In addition, whenever, they face unfamiliar cultural factors in the living environment , they should overcome these problems and understand how to live well with adaptations.
To accomplish these goal, we should find an efficient plan for improvement from the perspective of integration between Korean language and cultural education in beginner levels of textbooks.
In chapter 1, I reveal the purpose of this study and previous studies related to textbooks and married immigrant women have examined.
In chapter 2, the need for cultural education and the theoretical background on objectives were investigated for looking for the reason why education of culture is needed. For married immigration women, I checked integration programs of the Department of Justice, which conducts continuously and systematically, and the Korean language class of the Center of multiculural families.
As chapter 3, I select the textbook for analysis and focus on cultural education. After that, I derived disadvantages from the textbook.
I announced the way to find improvements from derived problems through analysis of the contents in chapter 4.
First of all, through a uniform distribution of culture, married immigrants might get the basic cultural information and adapt properly in Korea. Second, to increase the effectiveness of the Korean culture and language, the content and structure of the textbook should be systematic. Third, a positive culture reflects are claimed. Fourth, I argued that practicality with learners' need should be complemented.
In conclusion, learning through the textbook of Korean language is an important opportunity to understand and adapt to Korean society for married immigrants who don't have previous learning experiences. So, I should identify the weak points of content of textbooks and carefully look for
ways to improve the help for married immigrant women.
