This aims at analyzing the grammatical errors of connective ending “아(어)서” based on the study materials of Chinese-speaking Korean learners in order to expose the difficulty points for them thus can be used to make effective teaching plan.
In chapter 1, I discuss the purpose of this study and the analytical method for the connective ending “아(어)서”. Based on that, I conduct a literature review, which consists of three parts – grammatical study, error analysis, and comparative study. In chapter 2, I discuss the hypothesis of error analysis, which provides a solid ground through the discussion of theories regarding error analysis for connective endings. In chapter 3, I discuss the target and methods of error analysis. Based on the composition of Chinese-speaking Korean learners at the Institution of International Educaion of KyungHee University, I conduct the error analysis of the connective ending “아(어)서” and figure out the type of error based on statistical data. Thereafter, I expose the causes and reasons for the errors. In chapter 4, I conduct a comparative study between Chinese and Korean language on the connective ending “아(어)서”. There are two parts, first part is a comparative analysis of the characteristics of the connective ending in Korean and similar expressions in Chinese; and then, according to the analysis in the previous part, second part is a specific comparative analysis on “아(어)서” in Korean and corresponding expressions in Chinese. In chapter 5, on the basis of the analysis on substitution errors in the previous chapter, I design a practical teach model for the connective ending “아(어)서”. There are two types of meanings of the connective ending “아(어)서” – sequence of time and reason. Based on that, I design substitution drills for the connective ending with other two connective ending with similar meaning correspondingly – “고” and “니까”, and then figure out proper model for comparative exercise for some corresponding connective words in Chinese that have similar meanings with the connective ending “아(어)서”.
