This studies that there are various kinds of educational elements for learning Korean in the weather forecast. Based on the weather forecast scripts of the KBS nine o’clock news, both grammatical, lexical, and cultural elements and language functional elements for Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing have been found. As a result, it has been confirmed that there are various aspects of educational factors for Korean in the scripts. Specially, for the tense, the scripts were wonderful texts that could show lots of sample sentences using various kinds of tenses and action verbs. It also has many benefits that we can learn weather describing words relevant to specific predicates.
With these possibilities, this study shows some measures for Korean education using the weather forecast. In the aspect of language skill, language classes using the weather forecasts should cover the extrinsic parts such as pronunciation and vocabulary as well as the parts of expression and comprehension. Moreover, the grammatical and lexical aspects using the weather forecast scripts can be used for various means over the ways this shows. In particular, in the tense, the weather forecast has such an abundance of example sentences that the use of the weather forecast is endless. Therefore, it should be possible to expect further studies on this. However, the forecasts have limitations on the cultural aspect. Cultural phenomenon related to the weather is highly limited, and it is too ambiguous to call it culture. While it is possible to get the information about the holidays and the solar term, it's impossible to know traditional events for those holidays. The most important part of cultural study is to have experience and understand both traditional values and philosophical concept, but it is impossible to do this with the weather forecast. Rather, it is possible to use this material as an introduction part in order to arouse students' interest.
It is possible to make full use of the weather forecast in the field of Korean language education except for cultural education. Especially, the weather forecast has such abundance of example sentences that it is very effective for both teachers and students to learn the tense.
Furthermore, by using this familiar material, the weather forecast, we can arouse students' interest of Korean language learning, and it will be possible to maximize learning effects.
