In chapter 1, the goal of the study is explained as well as the object, the method and a precedent study. The object is new words coined between 2002 and 2009. These words are categorized into 7 items: Education, Environment, Career, Law, Health, Age & Gender, Living. Plus, the feature of words in every field is described by statistics and examples of new words. Chapter 2 discusses the general idea of "new word", the reason of creation of new words, and the relation between new words and socioculture. In chapter 3, each social phenomenon in 7 items are argued with statistics and detailed examples of new words. First, in Education field, Korean education values strongly more on spirit than material because Koreans normaly pursue achievement. In Law, '-parazzi' phenomenon shows Korean law is so strict that even trivial cases are concerned to maintain peace in a society. About Environment field, concerns on protection of the environment has risen since the mid-2000s. Taking a closer look at Health, it is seen that people are highly interested in being in good health, and the senior citizen and disabled are not wards anymore but companions in this era. In Job, new words mirror unstable current job market causing overheated job seekers. Regarding Age & Gender, changes in characters and roles depending on gender are observed while distinction of age is ambiguous now. At last, in Living part, new words prove three marked phnomena - a change of family concept, a developed drinking culture, a syndrome of being a beauty by plastic surgery. In chapter 4, overall social features are studied according to current trends and all the new words mentioned here.
