The main intent of this study is to develop a proposal of Korean Language Curriculum for Vietnamese international marriage women before immigration into Korea. To achieve this goal, this research tried to look into the korean language education for Vietnamese international marriage women in Vietnam and analyze the needs of them.
After entry into Korea, Vietnamese international marriage women experience various kinds of difficulties in their daily lives. These problems are due mainly to the lack of communicative competency and the cultural difference. The insufficient communicative competency can be attributed to the type of Korean learning that does not get accomplished systematically and substantially in their mother country. That is, the Korean language education curriculum does not reflect their needs and is not accomplished and harmonized with the real circumstances which they need to face in Korea. So, on the basis of needs assessment on the families in the international marriage, this research aims to design Korean language syllabus which can reflect practical Korean language usages in daily life.
Chapter 1 is devoted to the necessities and purposes of the Korean language education for the international marriage women befor immigration into Korea and to the literature reviews on the same topics.
Chapter 2 looks into the theoretical backgrounds of Korean language education for international marriage women.
Chapter 3 reviews the research method of this which is the process of finding answer for the thesis question - the object of this study, data, measurement and process.
Chapter 4 analyzes the survey result. The content of survey questionnaire was about three areas : I. Common Questions, II: Korean Language Learning in mother country and in Korea, III: Requirement about Korean Language education before immigration. Also in this chapter,
Based on the analysis of the survey, and the scrutiny about present conditions of Korean language education for Vietnamese international marriage women in Vietnam, chapter 5 shows that there's a vast discrepancy between Korean language education for international marriage women and their needs.
Chapter 6 suggests some suggestions on future development of Korean language syllabus and a sample of Korean language curriculum before immigration.
Chapter 7 summarizes the discussions presents in previous chapters and examines some restrictions of the research, and proposals for future research.
