The language reflects culture of nations which change with the times. According to the progress of the scientific technology, the economy developed rapidly. Lifestyle and culture have also changed. As a medium to express new subject or concept, there have been countless stocks of new words created.
That is, the development and transformation of a society at a time, is engraved within its modification of linguistics earlier than any other. Thus every day new words were created and increase explosively in Thailand.
The purpose of this thesis is to study of coined words use in Thai daily newss. This thesis is focused on coined words in entertainment article. The newss to be used as sources of data are‘Komchadluek’,‘Daily News’,‘Thai Rath’and ‘Matichon’from March to May in 2009.
This thesis is consists of five chapters as followings.
Chapter I is the introduction describing the aspect of purpose, scope, method and reviews precedent studies of coined words.
Chapter II gives a definition of coined words and examine coined words were created by cultural factors and psychological factors.
Chapter III is the detailed study of classifying coined words by‘A completely new vocabulary’s production’and‘Using of existing morphemes or vocabularies.
Chapter IV is the detailed study methods of the compound formation of coined words on the basis of classified framework of precedent studies.
Chapter V summarizes on the outcome of this study on the base of above conclusions of each chapters from examination and analysis of coined words use in Thai daily newss.
It is expected that this study will be helpful guide for those who study and research Thai coined words.
