This study analyzed the listening questionnaires of TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) for assessing the proficiency of the Korean learners. This article evaluated a part of Listening.
I picked up four categories- function, context, contents and text type- for analyzing the contents validity, based on the assessment criteria presented at syllabus for TOPIK. In result, it was shown that the assessment criteria was not reflected by the questionnaires for each category. Therefore, it is not likely that the listening questionnaires for TOPIK are representative of the assessment criteria presented by the institute in charge of the test.
And the result to analyze listening questionnaires types, they are not various. Therefore it is essential to develop questionnaires types.
Two possible explanation exists for reason why the questionnaires lack the contents validity. First, the provider of the questionnaire took account of types more than assessment criteria. Second, It is possible that the assessment criteria is not appropriate in validity. Because representations of the assessment criteria are not clear. And the assessment criteria bears no relation with the components of listening competence.
