There is no the present time without the past. This is the word what I said, "We cannot understand the present time before we can understand the past." Our economy was switched from fast growth to stable expansion for several decades. In addition, our country helped us with a cultural advance and a social development.
But, in all respects, this will lose its very good reason if it don't exist in the annals of the our history. It must always be born in mind. Between them, it is necessary to be worthy of notice during the latter part of the Chosŏn dynasty. This opinion must be caused by the westernized society to play an important part during the latter part of the Chosŏn dynasty. But the students of today have had little formal historical schooling. This is just the thing I want - the reason why I must start to investigate the traditional Korean Catholic History.
Chapter ?T was made an observation of the traditional Chinese Catholic History. I have a reason for it. Catholic settled down in China(under the Ch?fing Dynasty) thanks to ?eprotecting Confucianism mission of Matteo Ricci?f. And at this point of time, our country can get a golden opportunity to keep in touch with Catholic. The missionary work of Jesus Conference contributed much to the growth of Catholic in China Nevertheless, Catholic lost an opportunity owing to a dispute over a point of Ceremonial between Jesus Conference, Dominico Conference and Francisco Convention in China. In the course of the state of affairs, the western missionary was faced with Chosŏn representatives group, took a western knowledge as they are, worked at their studies and kept the as a belief.
Christian belief accepted a new theory primarily and Catholic religion secondarily without a missionary activity of a western missionary spontaneously. This is the first, work means a lot to not only us Korean Catholic but also Roman Catholic and this is something to be proud of.
Chapter ?U was made an observation of Korean Catholic to take a provocative attitude toward the Chosŏn dynasty and its Confucian ideas. At first, a standard of Catholic is "Men are all equal before God" or "All men were created equal by God".
So, Korean Catholic make a challenge to a traditional History, a feudalistic idea and a class system. As a result of the challenge, Catholic was suppressed to the aristocratic class. One of the matter of especial importance was on account of holding a memorial service for their ancestors and enshrining their ancestral tablet.
This resulted from suffering oppression religiously.
Chapter ?V was made an observation of ?eHow does Catholic affect the introduction of the new social conditions during the latter part of the Chosŏn dynasty??f First of all, in the social conditions of those days, most of all place a value on their only religion, 'confucian ideas'. However, the advent of a new religion have a great meaning from the rational and systematic angles for a religious acceptance. At the same time, the advent of a new religion is affected in character by a social environment, in other words, a status system, a social irregularity and an equal right as a new Catholic dogma during the latter part of the Chosŏn dynasty. It gives comfort to many people, but in every respect, the proposal ran into strong opposition from a power structure and the privileged classes threatened by the theory.
Lastly, the expansion and growth of the Christian belief have an effect on an economic system and a culture diffusion extensively. At that time, in the result of a progressive interest a western knowledge is receiving careful study as a pursuit of the new learning. So this was written to bring up very important some topics on the Historical Significance of an Catholic Instruction in Korea. If the Roman Catholic Churches would have understood the circumstances of Korea, people would have looked forward to being found out the new power. But it's heartbreaking that they shouldn't have won public recognition for Catholic as a belief and dogma in those times.
