본 연구는 한국사회에서 이주여성의 증가로 인해 발생하는 언어 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 의사소통 중심의 입문 한국어교재의 내용을 구성했다. 이주여성은 취업이나 학문목적 등의 학습자와 달리 결혼을 통해 국내에 거주는 조건을 가졌기에 일상생활에서 의사소통 능력을 높여 원활한 의사소통이 가능하도록 하는 것에 일차적인 목표가 있었다.
그러한 목표에 부합하는 교재를 개발하기 위해서 이주여성의 한국어 학습이 어떠한 방향으로 전개되어야 하는지를 살펴보았다. 또한 학습 방향과 더불어 이주여성의 교재 구성 관점을 제시함으로써 이주여성에게 의사소통 교수법을 중심으로 하여 학습해야 하는 필요성에 대해 밝혔다.
이주여성의 교재 구성 관점을 다섯 가지로 제시하였다. 첫째, 교재가 일상적인 생활을 상황별로 세분화되어 있는 지를 살펴보고, 그 상황들이 일상생활에서 사용가능하고 활용이 가능한 교재이어야 하고, 교재가 개별화되어 있어야 한다. 둘째, 교재에 시각적인 자료나 삽화가 충분한 교재여야 한다. 셋째, 학습자가 자주 접할 수 있는 빈도가 높은 것을 우선적으로 구성되어야 한다. 넷째, 한국어 표기와 현실 발음이 다른 것을 교재에 다루어야 한다. 다섯째, 한국어의 언어 예절이 교재에 포함되어야 한다.
위의 다섯 가지의 이주여성을 위한 한국어교재 구성 관점을 바탕으로 기존의 이주여성을 위한 한국어교재를 분석함으로써 「여성 결혼 이민자를 위한 한국어 초급」과 「여성 결혼 이민자를 위한 한국어 첫걸음」이 원활한 의사소통 상황을 제시하지 못한다는 한계점을 지니고 있다는 것을 살펴보고, 교재의 개선 방향을 제시하였다.
이에 본고에서는 위의 개선 방향을 바탕으로 하여 이주여성에게 한국 정착 초기에 배우는 한국어의 교재는 어떤 내용으로 구성되어야 하는지를 제시했으며, 그것을 토대로 이주여성을 위한 의사소통 중심의 입문 한국어 교제의 모형을 제시했다.
지금의 추세로 본다면 이주여성의 한국어 교육에 대한 수요는 더 증가할 것이다. 그리고 그들은 더 이상 외국인이 아니라 한국인으로서의 한 부분을 차지하는 중요한 존재이다. 따라서 이주여성에 대한 한국어 교육은 더 이상 간과해서는 안 되는 부분이다. 본 연구는 의사소통 중심의 입문 한국어교재의 내용을 구성하고 교재모형을 실은 것에 그쳤다는 한계가 있다. 그러므로 이주여성에게 배우기 쉽고 의사소통 능력을 향상시키는 실제 교재가 개발되어 그들이 한국 생활에 정착하는 데 도움이 되길 기대한다.

The purpose of this research is to provide an adequate Preliminary Korean language textbook to solve the communicative problems as the result of the female immigrants' increase in Korean Society. Different from the academic purpose students, female immigrants reside in Korea by marriage: therefore, the first aim of this textbook is to elevate their communication skills in society. To develop the Korean language textbook that meets those aims, it has to be firstly considered that which way the education should go. This research proposed the point of view how to compose the textbook by suggesting the need of communication-oriented education to female immigrants.
The point of this textbook upon these suggestions is, first, it should be specialized depend on the situation, and should be able to be used in everyday. Second, the textbook should be separated that immigrant females can use whenever they want to. Third, it should contain sufficient visual materials. Fourth, frequently used expressions should come earlier in order. Fifth, it should cover various phonological rules that come out different form from that it is written. Sixth, it should contain Korean language manners.
Through the limitation that「Basic Korean Textbook for Female Immigrant」and 「Beginner's Korean Textbook for Female Immigrant」can not offer authentic communication situation, based on the six points of view for the korean language textbook for female immigrants, this research suggests the way how to improve the textbooks.
Based on the way to improve textbooks, this research suggests what the preliminary Korean language textbook for female immigrants should consist, and suggests the proper communication-oriented preliminary Korean language textbook for female immigrants.
As we can see, the need for the Korean language education of female immigrants will keep increasing. They are not foreigners anymore but important members of korean society.
Thus we cannot oversee the Korean language education for female immigrants any more. This research has a limitation that could only suggest the textbook model. I hope that the textbook which can help female immigrants learn korean easily and improve their communicative skills to be developed to help female immigrants to adapt themselves to korean society as quickly as possible.
