Marriage immigrants have hard time of Korean life because of language difficulties, differences of culture and ways of life. Korean language teaching is essential to secure their lives and further more educate their children as a parent. However, they cannot afford to get Korean language teaching owing to pregnancy, childbirth, rearing, housework etc. For this, the "Korean language home school service" (language teaching program through personal visitations for marriage immigrants) rises. Despite of necessity, home school services have some problems in operating currently. First, in spite of visiting teachers are not experts in language teaching, we can point out there isn’t training system. As a result, contents and qualities of educations are unable to be standardized and there can be wide gaps in substances of educations according to teachers' abilities. Also, without making full use of advantage nor understanding of marriage immigrant learners' peculiarities, man-to-man visit education are no more than following in the former Korean language teaching as a general object. Accordingly in this study we are going to aim at efficient methods of operation and designing practical plans of home schooling for the Korean language teaching.
Concretely, in the first chapter, we make sure the object and necessity of this study and examine cultural, lingual adaptation of marriage immigrants and studies precedent.
In the second chapter, by examining theory about acquirement of secondary language and culture transformation theory as theoretical backgrounds, we find essential factors to acquire language for marriage immigrants who are learning language consciously and consciously, and find how attitudes toward culture of the target nation have influence on acquirement of target language. Also, we examine the man-to-man mentoring education based on constructivism and make full use of this to frame a scheme for effective man-to-man home schooling.
In the third chapter, we study social traits and peculiarities concerning using language of marriage women immigrants to understand their special characteristics. Moreover, we analyze the present situation of Korean language teaching and home schooling services, and dedue some problems from them.
In the fourth chapter, we try to find solutions of problems above and conduct questionnaires intended for 100 marriage immigrants who had experiences on home schooling service for Korean language teaching and 30 visiting teachers so that we can frame a scheme for effective man-to-man home schooling. The aims of analysis are effective training for visiting teachers and education programs harmonized with home schooling. Through this analysis, we collect opinions about influential factors on home schooling, such as qualifications for visiting teachers and effective ways of home schooling education. As a result, influential factors on home schooling service for Korean language teaching are the length of marriage immigrants' stay, experience of systematic Korean language teaching, educational backgrounds, learning abilities of learners, help of their family, the degree of contact with outside, learner's will power for learning. standard of satisfaction in Korean life and marriage, and obstacles of young children, home surroundings, healthy problems related to pregnancy and childbirth, visiting teachers abilities, relationship between teacher and learner etc. People said visiting teachers should have expert knowledge as a language teacher, friendship, sincerity and so on. Also, in this chapter, we put various results of analysis together and analyze advantages and limitations of home schooling to bring up the ways making up for the week points.
In fifth chapter, we present how to manage programs for effective Korean language teaching. Especially, considering man to man educational method of homeschooling, abilities of visiting teachers affect quality of education. So we lay emphasis on strengthening abilities and professionalism of teachers, in the concrete, we describe training system of visiting teachers, roles as a mentor and good attitudes toward learners. In addition, we try to make this study more practical by presenting the guiding principles and education program of home schooling to make full use of advantage as man-to-man education.
Finally, in the sixth chapter, we summarize contents of this study and make the messages clear, and finish with some suggestions for succeeding studies.
