In the Korean language education as a foreign language, the learners cultivating abilities to fluently use spoken languages is a very important issue. Since the spoken language that becomes the object of spoken language lesson is different from written language, it is difficult to recognize the characteristics of spoken language in the case of coming in contact with the shape of writings centering on teaching materials or printed materials. Therefore, the purpose of this study is teaching-learning living Korean language by studying discourse education plan for Korean language learners as a foreign language.
This study sought to allow learners to carry on correct discourse by naturally using the spoken language characteristics of discourse that are frequently used by the speakers that use Korean language as their native languages in the real social situations. Accordingly, it analyzed the concept of Korean language discourse and the characteristics of spoken language discourse. Especially, it sought to have advanced level learners as the subjects of this study with a view that advanced level is the level at which the education of spoken discourse characteristics is possible. Accordingly, it analyzed how the characteristics of discourse in the advanced level Korean language materials that are currently being used in universities in Korea are presented and teaching-learning are conducted and, as the result, it was found that the analysis object materials were lacking in the teaching-learning of spoken discourse characteristics as they were centering on written language.
To identify the problems and supplement the problems of the current written language centered Korean language education based on the spoken discourse characteristics and material analysis, a discourse education plan utilizing the media such as newss, advertisement and was presented. The Korean language lesson using such media helps Korean language learners to carry on correct spoken discourse in real life.
Although there is much room for improvement, it is hoped that there will be more studies on detailed Korean language spoken discourse lessons utilizing various media. Lastly, it was unfortunate that the teaching-learning guide presented in this study could not be applied in actual lessons since it's a teaching plan that was not actually experimented but devised in assumption. Also, it is unfortunate that the discussion in this study of the educational effectiveness of the lesson utilizing media did not go through objective verification of experiment analysis. In spite of this, it is hoped that this study will be expanded and reproduced as an effective teaching-learning plan for presenting the importance of spoken discourse and increasing the communication abilities of Korean language learners.
It is hoped that more systematic and objective discussion will be carried out focusing on spoken discourse utilizing media.
