This thesis amis at improving a Koran language curriculum for Academic Purposes, and developing the structures and systems of the curriculums for foreign students who are studying in Korean universities.
This study discusses the cases that the cultural lectures are managed by divided classes for foreign students. For this reason the focuses on Sheltered Content Instruction which is one of Content-based Instruction.
In the introduction of the , the necessity is explained to establish the curriculums for foreign students base on Content Based Instruction, which is a main theory for curriculum of Korean language education.
In chapter 2, in order to achieve the efficiency in Korean language curriculums, we review the trend of universities which is administering curriculum of Korean language education. The Korean language curriculum is divided into two groups based on characteristics of general Korean language courses or sheltered subjects for foreign students.
In chapter 3, the result of needs analysis is explained. This deals with interviews and questionnaires about conditions, problems and alternatives of Korean language courses from foreign students, professors and educational administrators. The result is analyzed in the aspect of cultural lectures, educational policies and systems.
In the chapter 4, based on the results, the efficient and effective curriculum of Korean language education for foreign students is proposed. At the comprehensive point of view, the new curriculum and effective syllabus of Korean language courses is developed and specific class conditions are suggested by the research data. This study emphasis that structure of instruction is consisted of contents, synthetic language skills and study skills, especially examination skills.
In the final chapter, the conclusion of this study are discussed. Although this study is verified yet, it is significant to attempt to design effective curriculum of Korean language education for foreign students by research with objective validity and gives some tips to further studies. Therefore, we should keep studying designs of curriculum of Korean language education for foreign students who make efforts to achieve successful academic achievement.
