The purpose of this study was to improve the ability for Korean, as a second language, through the culture education. The necessity and importance of the culture education in Korean education become increased more and more.
A certain language contains the thought and emotion of the people using the language both. Therefore, using the language means knowing the thought, emotion, and culture. To understand other's culture is necessary to communicate smoothly when one learns a certain language. Unless one can not understand the lingual meaning, it is difficult to communicate actually without understanding the comprehensive meaning which came from the cultural background of the country. The study for Korean education through the cultural education should be continued whit the idea which the learning language is the learning culture as like as the learning culture is the learning language.
Based on the idea, this study examined that the understanding the cultural background is necessary to communicate in right way, and researched the plan of education to improve the Korean ability for learners from the culture education. Also, this study suggested the lesson plan for the cultural education in the actual fields under the assumption, which learners may be interested in Korean more through the understanding the Korean culture.
In the chapter 2, this study totally grasped the theological background of the cultural education. For the purpose of understanding the concept of culture in advance, this study synthesized diverse and extensive ideas for culture from many scholars and grasped the relationship between the culture and the language from those ideas. Also, this study researched how they may contribute to improve the communication ability.
In the chapter 3, this study researched how the cultural education is practiced in the Korean education. This study clarifies the necessary reason of cultural education in the Korean education from the ideas of scholars, and set up the aim of the cultural education based on those ideas, and grasped the learning contents which are following the aim. Especially, the aim of the cultural education and the learning contents were suggested by adjusting to each learning step.
In the chapter 4, this study practically suggested the lecture plan, which is effective to improve the ability for Korean in the class for the cultural education based on the ideas from the previous chapters. Also, the lecture plan was suggested by apportioning the case centering teacher and the case centering learner. The role of teacher is very important in the cultural education. First, teacher should understand the culture in right way, and should possibly deliver the knowledge to learners impartiality and critically. In terms of the case centering learner, the lecture plan is centering on the activity which learner experiences in practice. The best way to learn the culture is the practice in person in the society related to the culture. Therefore, learners should acquaint themselves with the culture through the practice in the field. In this point of view, this study suggested the lecture plan and the guidance plan for teaching, which can be useful in educational fields, together.
In the chapter 5, this study arranged the result of the previous chapters, and researched the meaning of this study. Also, this study left the evaluating methodology as a subject of the later study which could not be researched in this study and concluded the study.
