This dissertation proposes an activation scheme for SDA Language School Church mission through efficient administration of Language School churches. For purpose of this dissertation an opinion survey of church members' views concerning faith and mission was conducted. This dissertation verifies church members' views on faith and mission and their resulting efficiency in the administration of the Language School churches by means of a conducted survey. The purpose of the survey was to establish church members' understanding of the Activation Mission of SDA Language School church.
As a premise of an argument, chapter 1 researches the growth of the Language School church has not followed the expansion of the SDA Language School. The dissertation poses the question as to how care of new members, oneness, and growth of the Language School church could be achieved in order to establish the activation mission of SDA Language School church. This research was conducted to investigate solutions to this problem.
Chapter 2 examines the mission history of the SDA Language School. For purposes of this task forty of the Language School churches were discussed. This chapter also discusses the administration, the number of students and the vision of SDA Language School. This Chapter also discusses the mission activities at SDA Language School. And the chapter examines the mission through the programs.
Weekend mission activities are conducted. Vesper services and bilingual worship services are open to the students. Students have many club activities with foreign teachers. Students have opportunity to participate in music clubs, conversation club, Signs of the Times club and many other clubs on Saturday mornings before Sabbath worship. Sabbath worship is conducted in Korean and various foreign Languages at 11 am. There are also second worship services and many club activities on Saturday afternoons.
Weekend activities are needed and useful in five ways. Students can attend firstly for free on the weekend. Second, Foreign teachers are given opportunity to participate in the programs as missionaries. It thirdly creates opportunity for SDA Language School and Language
opportunity for SDA Language School and Language School churches to work together. Fourth, SDA Language School and Language School church can be used as the mission field. As fifth point to argument, adult and youth members of the Language School church can join efforts in creating positive changes.
Mission days and mission weeks are conducted every term. Courses of the Voice of Prophecy are introduced to students. Foreign teachers teach Bible for an hour every day. Summer and winter Bible camps are conducted for thousands of students every year. SDA Language School conducts evangelistic meetings in foreign countries every year and has sent missionaries to the Pioneer Mission Movement.
Chapter 3 examines the general affairs and specific activities within the Language School church.
General affairs within the Language School church concerns three areas. It firstly concerns the institute staff, foreign teachers and Korean junior teachers that attend the Language School church. It secondly concerns members' lack in accepting ownership of the church. As third point to general affairs, pastors of Language School church should serve both leaders and members of the church.
The chapter further highlights the various Language School church activities like the foreign language morning junior Sabbath schools, afternoon student classes and Bible studies with foreigners, and youth activities.
And this chapter examines the relationship between Language School church and Language School, also convinces the relationship between Language School church and local conference.
Chapter 4 suggests proposal for the activation mission of SDA Language School church through efficient performance of the administration of the Language School church. The proposal firstly suggests that the Language School church should maintain close relations with SDA Language School which is the mother of the Language School church mission. There should secondly be the discipleship program activation of the Language School church. Thirdly, members need a keener sense of a mission spirit and consecration. As fourth suggestion the proposal suggests that members should not rely on SDA Language School and pastors to do the work but that they should take more initiative in the process of administration and mission.
The proposal finally suggests a yearly church program for the Language School churches.
Chapter 5 summarizes the arguments of this and draws several conclusions. It suggests that the Language School churches should grow at the same pace as the Language School in accordance to the Language School's mission. For such purposes the Language School should continuously concern itself to a far greater degree with this effort.
Results of the research suggest that almost all Language School church members rely upon the Language School to administer church affairs. The therefore concludes that Language School church members need to act more independently and take more responsibility in the church for the activation mission of SDA Language School church.
The proposal further concludes that church members also have a low mission spirit and consecration. They need Bible study, revival and the power of The Holy Spirit to move upon them.
Pastors of the Language School churches are employed by the SDA Language School and serve both the Language Schools and the Language School churches. So the pastors of the Language School churches need to become leaders that drive the activation mission of SDA Language School churches through the efficient administration of Language School churches.
