The role of design expanded to corporate strategy, and designers needed competencies of design planning. In the era when smartphones became more popular and information exchanges among users became more active through SNS, the design paradigm changed to user-centered, and user research became an essential step in the design process. Especially in the field of design, it has been focused on qualitative research that can get the user's essential needs. In this study, it represents the method that designers can efficiently conduct user research regardless of time and place using mobile environment.    Therefore, this study focused on non-face-to-face research methods that designers can investigate without meeting the users. Among the methods, this study tried to apply Cultural Probes, which can be flexibly used depending on research subjects, to mobile environment. This study explains that the essential elements of contextual research should be included communications between users and products/services. For this reason, it proposed the responsive web sites type tool kit, utilized SNS properties, for conducting Cultural Probes. In this study, this is called 'SNS-based Cultural Probes'. Furthermore, the qualitative research results are subjective, so that should be supplemented by interviews, Questionnaires, etc. in order to derive the needs that are appropriate for the purpose of the research. Therefore, in this study, Questionnaires which is a non-face-to-face method such as cultural probes is available to conduct in the Tool Kit.    In order to verify the effectiveness of the SNS-based Culturals Probes, this study conducted twice user researches on the virtual project of "Developing a localized program for the twenties in Mokdong area". The primary user research was conducted by constructing a probe kit according to the conventional Analog-based Cultural Probes method. In the secondary user research, it followed SNS-based Cultural Probes method, conducting to the same tasks with the primary research. Also, Questionnaires link was added as a task of the secondary user research, to receive answers related to leisures, regional representative characteristics, and community-specific programs from the participants. At the end, participants should give feedbacks in order to analyze the efficiency of the method.    There are two research problems for the effectiveness verification of SNS-based Cultural Probes method. First, it should be identified the differences between the analog and SNS–based Cultural Probes. Second, it should be verified whether the Questionnaires is suitable as a supplementary research method of the SNS–based Cultural Probes. In order to solve the first research problem, the results of the first and second user research were analyzed and compared based on the time, needs, technique efficiencies and response rates of participants. To solve the second research problem, this study analyzed the results of the second user research and the questionnaires. As a result, it is possible to use Questionnares to verify the reliability of data obtained through qualitative research and to prioritize needs when Questionnaires is concurrently conducted, and it is possible to set the direction of research results when developing ideas and concepts according to needs.
