The study is to analyze the effect of family health and parental acceptance on the self-esteem of teenagers. The subjects were 2nd grade of academic high school students who took the questionnaire located in the M city divided into boy school and girl's school. To analyze the research material, t-test and one-way ANOVA was accomplished and Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis was accomplished. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. First, as a result of examining the family health perceived by the teenagers, the average among the sub-factors of mutual respect and acceptance was the highest, and the paternal acceptance was higher than the maternal acceptance. Self-esteem was highest in academic and general, and was lowest in family self. Second, as a result of looking at the difference of family health, parental acceptance and self-esteem according to the gender, education and age, in the case of family health in gender showed significant differences in family resilience, family culture and social participation. Male students were higher than female students in family resilience, family culture and social participation. Male students were higher than female students in the whole family health, and the parental acceptance did not show any significant difference in gender. In the sub-factors of self-esteem, there were significant differences in academic and overall self, body appearance self, family self, personality self and physical ability self. And female students were higher than male students. These results showed that male students had higher family health than female students in family health according to gender and showed no difference in parental acceptance. In self-esteem, female students showed higher self-esteem than male students. The difference in family health, parental acceptance and self-esteem according to parents' age showed significant differences only in physical ability self, which is a sub-factor of self-esteem in both parent and children's ages. The difference in family health, parental acceptance and self-esteem according to their father's academic ability showed significant difference in economic stability, family culture and social participation. It can be seen that father with more than college education gives economic stability and more participation in family culture. The differences in family health, parental acceptance, and self-esteem according to mother's educational background showed no significant difference in parental acceptance and showed significant differences in family health and self-esteem. In the sub-factors of family health, there were significant differences in family resilience, quality family bond and economic stability, and there were also significant differences in family health. In the sub-factor of self-esteem, there was a significant difference in academic and overall self. In the mother's academic ability who graduated college, family health was the highest, while self-esteem showed the highest who were before graduate school. This suggests that the higher the level of parents' education, the more the family cares about how to lead a healthy family. Third, as a result of correlation analysis to examine the relationship between family health, parent acceptance and self-esteem, in the sub-factors of family health showed the negative correlation in gender, mother's education, father's academic ability, paternal acceptance, maternal acceptance, self-study, overall self, friend-related self, family self, body appearance self, personality self, physical ability self and teacher-related self. And it showed the positive correlation in family resilience, mutual respect and acceptance, quality family bond, economic stability and family culture. In the sub-factor of parental acceptance, there was a significant correlation between paternal acceptance and maternal acceptance. In the sub-factors of self-esteem, there were correlations in the remaining sub-factors except father's age, mother's age and father's academic ability. Forth, as a result of regression analysis was conducted to analyze the effects of family health and parental acceptance on self-esteem, the variables affecting self-esteem were found to have a significant effect on gender, paternal acceptance and maternal acceptance. According to gender, there is the greatest influence on maternal acceptance. This is because teenagers who have intimate and receptive relationship with mother feel emotional stability and mutual respect between family members increases. The results of this study show that family health and parental acceptance influence on the self-esteem of teenagers and play a most important role in our lives. The research suggests that it is urgent to make family life education essential for both parents and children in order to make a healthy family life and to maintain a positive family relationship.
