Abstract Development and Application of School Teachers' Colleagueship Scale Kwon, Hyokmi Department of Education Incheon National University The purpose of this study is to develop and to validate the school teachers' colleagueship scale which reflects the educational situation with the interest in the colleagueship of teachers, the major human resources of school organizations. To that end, research items were determined like the following. First, what are the composition factors of school teachers' colleagueship? Second, how do we develop measurement questions of school teachers' colleagueship? Third, are the school teachers' colleagueship scale valid? Fourth, What are the background variable which showed statistically significant for teachers’ colleagueship? For the study, 4 steps were conducted. First, in the stage of searching for composition factors, colleagueship-related domestic and foreign literatures and open-ended surveys were conducted to make the list of 44 school teachers' colleagueship composition factors. The list made like this took into consideration the related contents in the 1st professional discussion and classified the composition factors and subfactors of school teachers' colleagueship. Six composition factors such as reciprocity trust, reciprocity support, reciprocity sharing, interaction, communal spirit and communal participation and 34 subfactors were considered in developing the 1st school teachers' followership model. The extracted composition factors of the 1st model were validated in the 2nd professional consultation in terms of the contents and composition factors and areas were modified. The 2nd school teachers' colleagueship model determined 6 composition factors such as reciprocity trust, reciprocity support, reciprocity sharing, interaction, communal spirit and communal participation, and 31 subfactors. Second, in the stage of developing measuring items, composition factors and subfactors of the 2nd school teachers' colleagueship were used as a basis and features of school organization and teachers were reflected in developing situations and specific behavior items where colleagueship is exercised. Items of Preceding researches related to colleagueship measuring and preceding researches measuring features of teachers were used to make 31 pre-items. For the examination of validity and reliability of the made pre-items, 1st survey was conducted on 26 elementary, middle and high schools in Incheon. 297 responses were used for analyzing items and reliability was analyzed. It was found that even though there was one item erased. The 2nd search factor analysis found that all the factor load of all items was more than .4 and 30 items were found to be important variables. Third, in the stage of validation of scale, for generalization of the scale, the 2nd survey was conducted on 58 elementary, middle and high schools in Incheon. 1,022 responses were used for item analysis and reliability analysis, and it was found that there was no item erased. To examine whether the school teachers' colleagueship composition factor structure which was found through search factor analysis is supported maximum-likelihood classification was applied for confirmation factor analysis. This study found that 1st confirmation factor analysis structure which examines the relations of 30 items measuring 6 composition factors was the most appropriate. For examination of construct validity, concentration validity, determination validity, and law validity were also examined. Discriminant validity and concurrent validity were examined. The result is that construct validity, discriminant validity and concurrent validity exist. As the finally developed school teachers' colleagueship scale, the perception differences of 1,022 elementary and middle school teachers who participated in the 2nd survey was analyzed with the use of independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. The average of the perception of elementary and middle school teachers' regarding each measurement variable with the standard of 5 point Likert measure shows that the overall teachers' colleagueship was high at 4.26, and the background variable which showed statistically significant were whether they were sex, director level teachers, career of teaching, career of director, school grade, sex of vice-principal. Through these processes, 6 composition factors, 30 subfactors, and 30 items' teacher colleagueship scale was confirmed, and the developed scale was the tool of which reliability and validity of measuring teachers' colleagueship were secured. This study is meaningful because it developed a unique scale based on Korean education organization's members, and 6 composition factors which are more than the existing scale can broadly reflect the features of teachers' colleagues. This study will help teachers find their features as colleagues in school organizations, make up for their shortcomings, restore educational functions, improve quality of education, and provide information for improving schools.
