As a former resident of Ulleung Island, I tried to introduce this remote location in order to bring more international interest from foreign travelers who might not be aware of its existence due to its obscurity and distance from the capital city, Seo... As a former resident of Ulleung Island, I tried to introduce this remote location in order to bring more international interest from foreign travelers who might not be aware of its existence due to its obscurity and distance from the capital city, Seoul. Each year, the number of foreign visitors to Korea increases. Most foreign visitors only stay in Seoul during their itinerary and return to their countries, having not felt genuine Korean culture. However, on Ulleung Island, foreigners can feel the traditional Korean spirit through their foraging lifestyle and well-preserved natural surroundings with various indigenous experiences. Especially for travelers who seek rare, authentic, indigenous local culture, the island is a suitable travel destination which provides insight about the remote islanders' spirit by local people's living condition and their customs. The first part of the thesis explains the reasons for choosing the island and introducing it to a foreign audience. Therefore, I included the historical background along with statistics about the sole focus on Seoul. Moreover, I discussed the overall narrative structure in a memoir format with a nostalgic tone by using travel memoir format. I also explained the five narrative tactics with appropriate excerpts from my memoir, which help readers engage with the writing. Thus, the second part of the thesis consists of three narrative s that include place, food and people of the island, based on my recent trip with genuine experiences, impressions, and personal enlightenments. Hopefully, this thesis will bring more interest to the island, especially from foreign travelers, and enhance the tourism business in the near future.
한국에 오는 외국인 관광객의 수가 해마다 늘어나는 시점에서, 대부분의 외국인 관광객들이 한국 체류기간 도중 서울지역만을 관광하고 돌아간다는 통계자료를 접한 후, 보다 한국의 정서... 한국에 오는 외국인 관광객의 수가 해마다 늘어나는 시점에서, 대부분의 외국인 관광객들이 한국 체류기간 도중 서울지역만을 관광하고 돌아간다는 통계자료를 접한 후, 보다 한국의 정서와 전통을 알릴 수 있는 지역에 대하여 고민한 끝에 필자의 동해 끝의 외딴 섬 울릉도 지역에서 과거 약 3년 여간 생활한 경험과 최근의 답사를 기반으로 이 지역을 외국에 널리 알리고자 본 논문 작업에 착수하게 되었다. 천혜 자연 속에서 단순한 관광 보다는 한국인들의 고유 문화와 전통을 토대로 한 어민들의 삶의 현장을 가까이서 보고 느끼고, 한국민들이 가진 다양한 정서를 직접 체험해보기를 희망하는 여행자라면 울릉도는 그들에게 최적의 관광지가 될 수 있을 것이다. 필자는 본 논문의 첫 번째 파트에서 서울 지역에만 집중된 외국인의 한국 관광 실태와 더불어 울릉도 지역을 주제로 선택한 이유를 역사적 배경과 함께 기술하였고, 두 번째 파트를 구성하고 있는 여행 에세이 3편의 여행 회고록 형식에 기반한 내러티브적 기법들을 포함하였다. 두 번째 파트에서는 울릉도의 진면목을 살펴볼 수 있는 장소, 음식, 사람 이라는 각 주제에 따라 필자의 어머니와 함께 한 3편의 울릉도 여행기를 개인적 회고와 깨달음 등을 포함하여 기술하였다. 아무쪼록, 본 논문을 통해 보다 많은 외국인들의 관심이 울릉도 지역에 생겨서 관광 내수의 활성화가 이루어지기를 희망한다. ，韩语论文，韩语论文题目 |
