예수 그리스도의 섬김의 모습이 새평안 교회의 모습과 같게 되기를 바란다. 성육신적 삶, 성령 안에서의 삶, 섬기는 삶, 증인이 되는 삶, 자신들이 속해있는 부족의 이익과 고집을 주장하지 ... 예수 그리스도의 섬김의 모습이 새평안 교회의 모습과 같게 되기를 바란다. 성육신적 삶, 성령 안에서의 삶, 섬기는 삶, 증인이 되는 삶, 자신들이 속해있는 부족의 이익과 고집을 주장하지 않고, 서로가 서로를 위하여 존중해주며 성령과 말씀안에서 하나가 되려고 끊임없이 노력하는 삶. 이러한 공동체를 이루어 나가는 사람들이 섬김의 리더십과 섬김의 리더의 삶을 가진 자이다. 불교의 문화권에서 그리고 그 안에 뿌리내려져 있는 보이지 않는 계급의 문화속에서 리더십(leadership)은 수직적인 리더십이다. 이 리더십은 ‘섬김’ 이라는 것을 알 수 없다. 186년의 기독교 역사 속에서 태국은 ‘섬김’이라는 단어와 의미를 잊고 살았다. ‘섬김의 리더십’은 이익을 보려는 것이 아닌 다른 사람이 잘 되게끔 이끌어 주며 하나의 목표를 함께 공유하며 살아가고자 하는 리더십이다. 이러한 섬김의 리더십이야 말로 새평안 교회에 필요하며 목회자와, 성도 그리고 지역사회를 변화시킬 수 있다고 본다.

This thesis was written in hopes for the New Peace Church to grow as servant-minded and servants in action as Christ Jesus did. In fact, serving life is reflected through Christ in bodily form, Holy Spirit, by serving others and testifying in faith – essentially, living beyond self-interests and interests of the community. A serving life is striving together in respect of one another, towards unity in the Word and Holy Spirit. Such life of community possesses leadership rooted in serving, and thus training the leaders to serve at all times. On the contrary, Buddhist culture has its root in an invisible social hierarchy culture in which the leadership is vertical – such leadership will fail to define ‘serving’. Hence, the past 186 years of Christianity in Thailand have forgotten its meaning and purpose of servant. A servant leadership does not seek for self-interest but it seeks for interests of others – leading others in good directions and sharing one goal together.
