A study on educational methods of Vietnamese language and culture for the children of Vietnamese-Korean multi-cultural Family through Vietnam folktales Folktales take an important role in our spiritual life, especially with children. Through folktales, we can understand more and more about our ancestor’s life as well as culture and traditional of one country. That’s the reason why I decided to research about way to use Vietnamese Folktales to teach Vietnamese and Vietnam culture for children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families with the hope that they can understand in detail about Vietnamese traditional culture. Moreover, the variety of literary expressions in folktales will provide them rich vocabulary and develop their listening, speaking, reading and even writing in Vietnamese. In the Chapter II, I research about the feature of folktales and the possibility of using folktales in training culture and language in general. After that, in the Chapter III, I researched in detail about the possibility of using Vietnamese folktales in training Vietnamese culture and language for children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families. Besides that, I also pointed out some criteria to select typical literary works that I hope they will bring out good effect in training Vietnamese culture as well as Vietnamese education. And in the Chapter IV, I emphasized my research about Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese training base on the feature of Vietnamese folktales by categories like folktales about country, heroes, families, society moral or religion. Through some typical kinds of the folktales that I mentioned above, children in the Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families will understand about the traditional cultural values of their motherland and it also would be a good chance for them to improve their listening, speaking, reading and even writing. In the last chapter, I gave the way to draw up a plan for each lesson of all the folktales that was selected in my research in order to promote efficiency of using folktales to support the improvement of Vietnamese culture and language. Hereinafter is the main reasons that I decided to select Vietnamese folktales in training and educating culture and language for children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families: First of all, Vietnamese folktales were oral compositions and the topic of these traditional works are mainly focused on people’s daily life. That would bring us various words and expressions related to daily activities. Besides that, folktales also express nationalistic of Vietnamese people. So children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families can acquire and get a better feeling about the Vietnamese emotion, social moral views, as well as religious and custom and so on through folktales in naturally. Vietnamese folktales are oral compositions. That is the reason why mothers in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families can easily tell those story to their children. Even though, plot of folktales is rather familiar and easy to remember. That would be a good advantage that helps children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families in remembering and understand the messages contain in the story. Vietnamese folktales always contain mythology factors that create the attraction to children while listening and reading. It will be helpful for them to understand the content as well as the meaning of the story. Folktales take children to the world of fairy, create an environment for them to develop their imagination and they will be more creative. That’s a necessary that we need to know about the culture of the country that we intend to learn their language. Vietnamese folktales contain not only Vietnamese traditional culture but also precious language. So, in my opinion, Vietnamese folktales is an effective documents in training and educating language as well as culture for children and especially for children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families in Korea as they don’t have so many chances to live in Vietnam to understand and take a good feel of Vietnamese and Vietnam culture. I hope that my research would be helpful in education and improvement the language and culture ability for children in Vietnamese and Korean multi-cultural families in Korea.
