Recently, majoring in dance in universities is evaluated with a standard of employment rate, and the existence of the major is threatened. And dance majors in universities are confronted with a narrow wall for the career path and it is difficult for them to play a role as members of society. The profession must inherently fulfill personal, economic, and social functions in a balanced way. In recent years, however, people are choosing jobs focusing on economic functions, and college graduates majoring in dance were identified as focusing on the personal function. However, this researcher thought that the function of the job should be fulfilled in a balanced way and the appropriate organization for this is the social economic organization. Therefore, this study aims to propose a social economic organization as a form of new occupation that will contribute to the job creation of college graduates of dance major. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the antecedent literature investigation was carried out, the current condition of employment of graduates of dance major was identified and the data of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance was confirmed. In addition, through the conference of experts in social economic organizations, I examined cases of social economic organizations in the field of culture and art. The case study selected cases in which college graduates of dance major could enter, that are three types of Social Enterprise Koobo Dance Company, Ballet STP Cooperative, and Social Cooperative Javareutte. The results of analysing cases according to autonomy, diversity, locality, and innovativeness which are characteristics of social and economic organization in the field of culture and art are as follows.
The autonomy of members of an organization, which is the first characteristic of social economic organization, appeared most characterfully in Javareutte that is a Social Cooperative, among three cases. Social Cooperative Javareutte was able to carry out social missions, ensure the autonomy of members of an association, and find cases which their ideas were actually connected to the business. The social enterprise, Koobo Dance Company freely exchanges opinions between representatives and employees, and guarantees dance activities of employees by reflecting them in the activities. When I analysed Social Cooperative Javareutte from the viewpoint of the diversity which is the second characteristic, it was confirmed that culture and art education activities, local festivals and performances were carried out by combining with various art fields such as music, art, and theater. Therefore, it was possible to expand the business and build a unique image of Javareutte by providing the contents of various fields of art to the public. Koobo Dance Company created works of various genres such as dramas and dance performances to meet the needs of audiences as the group grew, and conducted educational activities suited for the characteristics of the subjects such as youth, elderly people, and soldiers. In addition, it is expanding into the business through Incheon Art Market which Incheon Art Group·artists and local organizations·companies can do networking. Ballet STP cooperative can be characterized by variety of performances. In the form of gala performances, the audience can enjoy a variety of works of classical ballet, and it adds freshness as the creative ballet to the audience. Locality which is the third characteristic is the characteristic and advantage of the social enterprise Koobo Dance Company, and Incheon Art Market can be the representative case. Koobo Dance Company acts as a bridge between local artists, arts organizations and enterprises, local government through Incheon Art Market. In other words, this can be an example of the localization of social enterprises. The regional character of Ballet STP Cooperative is revealed through the Suwon Ballet Festival. It conducted experiential and performance programs so that the public could recognize the ballet with familiarity. Innovation, which is the forth characteristic, can be analyzed with characteristics revealed in all three cases. Ballet STP Cooperative was innovative in that heads of ballet organizations that had already been established as existing private organizations cooperated together to form a cooperative. It seems to be very innovative that heads are trying to solve problems with the critical mind, under the purpose of solving the problem of ballet system and making the ballet popularized by raising a cooperative. Social Enterprise, Koobo Dance Company has continued its active activities to expand the performances of dance students based on the Incheon area, and held the Incheon Art Market. The fact that Incheon Art Market is not led by the local governments of the government, but by Social Enterprise Koobo Dance Company which is a private organization, is considered very innovative. The social co-operative, Javareutte was also progressive from the purpose of establishment, and its process of change to recent activities is dynamic. From the culture and art education, to festivals, experiencing contents, planning and consulting, it has expanded the business based on many know-hows.
Through case analysis, it was possible to confirm the possibility of the development of social economic organizations in the field of culture and art, and it was confirmed that college graduates of dance major were actively engaged in various activities actually. This researcher expect that this study is used as basic data for job creation of college graduates of dance major, and can be helpful for actually setting the career path for college graduates of dance major.
