This study aims to look into the background and trend that have brought about the fusion of Korean traditional music "Gugak" and various Western music in an inevitable and intentional way according to the current of the times. Since the introduction of Western culture and its fast penetration into the Korean culture which had been closed until then, many things have changed in the Western way in every aspect. Especially in case of music, a part of art, it would be not too much to say that almost all, including musical education, instruments, and even theories, have been transformed on the basis of Western music and classical music, accepting Western cultures at the very front. Meanwhile, the Korean national culture Gugak has been taken as a special kind of art that should be inherited by authorized specialist only and also as unfamiliar, foreign culture which is difficult and irrelevant to the public, although it is the Korea's indigenous culture and art in fact. This way, it has been distorted as strange culture even though it has existed along the Korean history and tradition for a long time, and consequently, it has become much more conservative than any other areas of music rapidly keeping up with global, contemporary art and public beyond the borders. Gugak also tried to fuse with different areas of music in order to achieve modernization and popularization, but it is still just uninfluential in the commercial album market, which is mostly comprised of the mainstream in particular among the pop music. With a new era of digital music, the number of music listeners who enjoy pop music with online streaming services as well as mp3 downloading services has steadily increased because music became available in the form of intangible media "mp3", instead of old-fashioned tangible albums. And thanks to this easier and more convenient access, it became more frequent for the public to be exposed to non-mainstream music which used to be outside of the public's interest as the underground culture. Besides, as the production of such music became accelerated, it has brought many positive effects on the diversification of pop music. There has been also a change in the area of Gugak that used to be possible to enjoy only at the performing places. The revolutionary changes in the market with the highly simplified process of album production and digitalization have enabled a variety of unanticipated fusions and also motivated emerging Gugak musicians who play a leading role in the popularization of Gugak. Now, albums with new attempts for fusions of Gugak and other music genres are expected to be capable enough of bringing positive changes to traditional tendency of art consumption which used to be passive, contributing to the diversification of Korean pop music and also encouraging the public to realize the beauty of traditional art and have the interest in national culture. Surely, fusion of Gugak and other music has the significant, musical value as an attempt itself. But in addition to this, it is also vitally important to achieve competitiveness in the commercial album market as the good of the music market. But unfortunately, not all the attempts for fusion of Gugak have been always successful in the commercial album market. Therefore this study aims to look into what attempts Gugak has made for its modernization and popularization based on the albums which attempted to achieve the artistic encounter with music, by sorting them out and arranging by time period. Ultimately, it aims to find the solution for Gugak to get closer to the public in this rapidly evolving commercial album market and contribute to the greater diversification of pop music, by figuring out the current problems of the market in spite of its superior values as the art and also as the goods.
본 논문은 시대의 흐름에 부응하여 국악과 서양의 다양한 음악의 융합이 필연적이고 의도적으로 이루어 질 수밖에 없던 배경과 흐름에 대한 연구이다. 상대적으로 폐쇄적인 성향을 띄던 ... 본 논문은 시대의 흐름에 부응하여 국악과 서양의 다양한 음악의 융합이 필연적이고 의도적으로 이루어 질 수밖에 없던 배경과 흐름에 대한 연구이다. 상대적으로 폐쇄적인 성향을 띄던 한국은 서구문물의 유입이 시작되고 적극적으로 수용하기 시작하면서부터 지금까지 많은 것이 서양식으로 변화되어 왔다. 특히 음악이라는 예술 분야는 그 전면에서 서양 문물을 받아들여 음악교육, 악기, 음악이론 모두 서양음악과 클래식 음악을 중심으로 이루어져 있다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 그래서인지 민족문화인 국악은 우리 자신의 고유한 문화예술임에도 불구하고 특별한 자격을 가진 전문가들을 통해서만 계승되는 예술로 인식하여, 대중들에게는 어렵고 전혀 연관이 없는 다른 민족의 문화처럼 생소하게 받아들여져 왔다. 한국의 역사와 함께해 온 민족문화이지만 여전히 이질적인 문화로 왜곡되어 국경을 넘어 전 세계의 예술, 대중과 활발하게 호흡하는 여타의 음악에 비해 퇴영적인 양상을 보일 수밖에 없었다. 국악도 이미 현대화ㆍ대중화를 이루어내기 위해 상호이질적인 다양한 음악들과의 융합을 시도하였지만, 대중음악 중에서도 주류음악이 대부분을 이루고 있는 산업음반 시장에서 국악의 존재는 여전히 미미하다. 근래 디지털 음원시장의 시대 도래 이후로 음악은 유형의 음반보다 mp3라는 무형의 매체로, 최근에는 mp3 다운로드 뿐 만 아니라 온라인 스트리밍 서비스로 대중음악을 간편히 즐기는 대중들이 많아지게 되었다. 따라서 그간 언더그라운드 문화로 대중들에게 외면 받던 비주류 음악들도 대중들에게 비교적 많이 노출되기 시작했고, 생산 역시 활발해져 대중음악 다양성의 긍정적 효과를 가져 오기도 했다. 대중들이 능동적으로 공연장을 찾아가야만 비로소 향유할 수 있었던 국악의 영역에서도 변화가 일었다. 음반 발매의 과정이 간소화되고 디지털화 되는 시장의 변화는 생각지도 못했던 다양한 융합을 시도하게 했고, 국악의 대중화에 견인차 역할을 수행하는 신진 국악인들의 움직임도 활발해지게 했다. 국악과 다양한 음악이 융합된 시도들이 담겨있는 음반들은 한국 대중음악 다양화에 기여함과 동시에 민족 문화에 대한 관심과 전통 예술에 대한 아름다움을 깨닫게 하여 과거 소극적인 움직임을 보여 온 전통 예술 소비 양상에 긍정적인 변화를 기대하게 하기에 충분하다. 국악과 다양한 음악의 융합은 그 자체만으로도 음악적 가치가 크지만, 전통 예술이 산업음반 시장에서도 경쟁력을 갖추기 위한 것으로 음악 시장의 상품으로써 가치도 분명히 존재한다. 그러나 지금까지 국악의 융합 시도가 산업 음반 시장에서 성공적인 것은 아니었다. 따라서 본 논문은 우선, 음악과의 예술적 조우를 시도한 발매 음반을 중심으로 해당 음반들을 시대적으로 분류, 정리하여 국악이 현대화ㆍ대중화를 위해 어떠한 시도를 하였는지 그 전개를 살펴보았다. 그리고 국악과 대중음악 융합이 예술적, 상품적 가치가 있음에도 불구하고 산업 음반 시장에서 봉착한 문제점은 무엇인지 파악하여 급변하는 산업음반 시장에서 국악이 좀 더 대중들에게 친근하게 다가가고 나아가 대중음악의 다양화에 기여할 수 있도록 미력하나마 타개할 방안을 마련해보고자 한다. ，韩语毕业论文，韩语论文网站 |
