오늘날 문화와 관련된 공연 및 행사가 지역별로 광범위하게 진행되고 있으며 내용적인 측면에 있어서도 다양한 형식과 주제로 사회적 관심을 증대시키고 있는 상황이다. 이와 같은 상황은 ... 오늘날 문화와 관련된 공연 및 행사가 지역별로 광범위하게 진행되고 있으며 내용적인 측면에 있어서도 다양한 형식과 주제로 사회적 관심을 증대시키고 있는 상황이다. 이와 같은 상황은 공연과 행사에 있어서 많은 문화적 요소들이 현대인들의 사회생활 및 일상생활에 활력소를 주고 있으며, 또한 여가활동이나 문화적 창출과 문화 공유에 영향력을 파급하여 거시적 의미에서 매우 뜻 있는 현상이라 하겠다. 공연 및 행사에 있어 주된 장소인 무대에 대한 공간적 환경은 많은 부분 변화하고 발전되고 있는데 특히 비상설 무대공간의 변화 속에서 필연적이고 중요한 요소인 무대공간조명 및 무대공간 조명연출이라는 역할은 더 많은 변화와 발전을 필요로 하고 있다. 현재의 공연과 행사가 이뤄지는 장소는 실내 및 옥외를 구분하지 않고 무대공간조명 시스템과 무대공간조명시설이 함께 발전되어 왔으며 무대공간에 있어서도 많은 변화가 조성되고 있다. 특히 무대공간에 있어 중요한 요소라 할 수 있는 무대공간조명과 무대공간 조명연출은 무대라는 공간적 측면에서 핵심이 되며 현재 무대공간조명의 영역이 광범위화 되면서 무대공간조명 및 무대공간 조명연출에 의하여 공연 및 행사의 결과가 결정되는 경우가 많아지고 있다. 이와 같은 측면에서 무대공간조명은 무대라는 공간에서 배우나 연기자 및 피사체를 보다 효과적으로 보여주기 위한 인공조명이다. 무대공간 조명연출은 무대공간조명의 위치와 배치에 따라 생성되는 빛과 그림자를 바탕으로 빛의 방향성과 변화, 그리고 색채를 동시에 구현하여 표출하는 무대공간의 중요한 구성 요소이다. 이처럼 조명에서 발생하는 조형적 형상인 빛에 의하여 생성되는 명암과 색채 및 질감, 선, 그리고 동적인 요소들은 무대공간에서 표현되며 관객에게 보이지 않는 소통의 수단으로 전달되고, 또한 디자인의 요소라 할 수 있는 균형감과 통일감 그리고 리듬감 및 대비, 강조 등의 내용을 통하여 새로운 감성요소로 관객에게 전달됨으로써 무대공간조명의 역할은 매우 크다. 무대공간조명은 시각적으로 전달할 내용을 만드는 기능을 하는 것이며 무대공간 조명연출은 전달되는 빛의 효과 및 세기, 색채 등에 대하여 기획하고 디자인하는 과정이라 할 수 있다. 또한 관객의 집중도와 가시적인 측면의 전달 내용을 통하여 관객들은 감성적인 내용을 전달받기 때문에 무대공간에 있어서는 매우 중요한 부분이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 무대공간조명과 무대공간 조명연출에 대하여 고찰과 선행연구를 분석하고, 그 내용을 기반으로 비상설 무대공간조명 및 무대공간 조명연출을 국내·외 사례 분석과 무대공간조명의 분류 및 종류를 통하여 기술적 연구와 공간 적용에 대한 필요성을 인지하고 향후 비상설 무대공간 조명연출 연구에 대한 방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다.
