본 논문은 그동안 비교적 소략하게 다루어진 남한강 유역의 원삼국시대 문화상 파악하기 위해 이 지역에 분포하는 취락의 시간적인 위치를 검토하고, 이에 따른 변화 양상을 살펴보았다.
남한강 유역에서 확인되는 원삼국시대 취락은 새로운 물질문화의 출현을 기준으로 크게 세단계의 변화 과정을 거친다. Ⅰ단계에는 기존 주거지의 장방형, 오각형 평면에 육각형 평면이 등장한다. 다양한 형태의 노지와 함께 일부 ‘ㄱ’자형 외줄구들이 시설되기도 한다. 토기는 소량의 낙랑계 토기와 중도식무문토기가 출토된다. 타날문토기는 원저단경호가 주를 이루며 늦은 시기에는 타날문토기 대호(옹)와 난형호, 시루가 출현한다. Ⅱ단계가 되면 장방형 평면은 사라지고 ‘一’자형 외줄구들과 심발 및 장란형토기가 출현한다. 이른 시기에는 소형의 방형 주거지에만 시설되고 타날문토기 취사용기는 공반되지 않다가 평면 오각형과 육각형 주거지에 시설되면서 심발 및 장란형토기가 공반되기 시작한다. Ⅲ단계에 이르면 전벽 오각형의 평면과 ‘ㄱ’자형 외줄구들, 낙랑계토기, 중도식무문토기 내만구연옹이 확인되지 않는다. 한편 일부 지역에서 한성백제양식 토기나 신라계 토기가 출토된다.
이러한 취락의 변화는 적석분구묘로 대표되는 남한강 유역의 정치체가 낙랑·대방 및 삼국과의 관계 속에서 변화해 가는 모습과 궤를 같이한다.

This study inspects chronological history of a settlement in South Han-river in Proto-Three Kingdoms Period to figure out its cultural features that have been relatively roughly analyzed so far. The study also discovers changes of the settlement chronologically.
A settlement located in South Han-river in Proto-Three Kingdoms Period went through largely three change steps as a new meteral culture appeared. On the stageⅠ, a new type of a residential area, a hexagon, appeared, following rectangle and pentagon. Partially, ‘ㄱ’ type underfloor heating system are built with a variety type of the bare ground. When it comes to earth ware, small number of Lo-lang pottery and Jung-do style plain pottery are excavated. Beating pottery is mainly composed of round-based Jar with short neck and in the late period, beating pottery daeho (甕), nanhyeongho (卵形壺) and steamer appeared. On the stageⅡ, rectangular type disappears ‘ㅡ’ type underfloor heating system, deep-bowl pottery and egg-shaped pottery appear. In the beginning, they are built in only small square residential areas and beating pottery cooking container is not associated. Once they are built in pentagon and hexagon residential areas, deep-bowl pottery and egg-shaped pottery are associated. On the stageⅢ, whole wall pentagon plane, ‘ㄱ’ type underfloor heating system, Lo-lang pottery, Jung-do style plain pottery Naemanguyeonong (內彎口緣甕) are not shown while Hanseong Baekju style potter or Silla potter are excavated in some area.
The changes of these settlements are in line with those of political organizations around South Han-river to represent stacked stone mounded burials with Lo-lang·Daebang and the Three Kingdoms.
