본 연구는 미켈란젤로의 천지창조 천장화를 도상학 관점에서 확대하여 창작 무용으로서의 공연예술로 시각 문화 현상의 주제 확장을 위한 그 가치를 연구하였다. 현대사회에 들어오면서 ... 본 연구는 미켈란젤로의 천지창조 천장화를 도상학 관점에서 확대하여 창작 무용으로서의 공연예술로 시각 문화 현상의 주제 확장을 위한 그 가치를 연구하였다. 현대사회에 들어오면서 대량 생산되는 대중적 종교 문화는 시각문화, 청각문화, 소통문화, 물질문화로 파생되면서 융복합적 성향을 띄며 다양한 공연문화로 성장하고 있다. 기독교예술은 작품을 통해 작가의 신앙고백이 드러나며 작품을 대하는 대중들에게 복음을 전달하는 의미를 나타낸다. 기독교 미술작품인 성화는 신앙심을 나타내는 것으로 종교의 성격과 작가의 신앙심이 그림에 전달되며 그림을 통해 절대적 존재와 체험을 드러낸다. 미켈란젤로 천지창조는 기독교 상징으로서 성경적 내용을 근거하고 있고, 그 시각적 이미지는 역사는 물론 넒은 의미에서 문화적 개념으로 대중에게 전시됨으로 파급효과가 높다. 그 역사와 시각적 파급효과는 대량으로 생산, 소비되고 있으며 교육적, 상업적 등으로 대중들에게 전달되고 있다. 따라서 시각문화로 그 이미지가 전달되고 있는 미술 작품 미켈란젤로의 ‘천지창조’를 분석하고, 대중적 종교 문화로 형상화시켜 문화 현상의 주제 확장을 위한 그 기능을 살펴보았다. 특히 미술 작품의 시각적 이미지를 창작무용 작품의 주제 확장으로 폭을 넓혀 새로운 시각적 접근을 시도하였다. 기독교 미술 작품을 통한 무용창작 작품 주제 확장의 대중적인 방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다양한 기독교 미술 작품들의 연구와 새로운 콘텐츠의 개발을 통해 창작무용 작품은 물론 다양한 영역에서의 확장성을 통한 새로운 방향성을 제시해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 복음적 요소를 시각적 이미지를 통해 제공하는 미술작품의 주제와 배경을 무용과 다양한 무대예술 기법을 통해 대중화 될 수 있는 무용창작 작품을 만들어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 기술적 융복합을 통한 예술영역 확장으로의 접목으로 다양한 기법을 활용하여 대중들이 이해하기 쉽고 문화욕구를 충족할 수 있는 작품을 창조해야 할 것이다. 넷째, 무용이 주제 확장을 통해 다양하게 발전하기 위해서는 시대와 문화 흐름을 잘 파악하여 새로운 문화 창출을 이뤄야 할 것이다. 마지막으로, 2차원적인 시각적 이미지가 3차원적인 춤과 결합하여 종교예술로 한 단계 더 성장하고 대중들에게 복음을 전달하는 매개체로 활용이 가능하다. 공연을 통해 대중에게 메시지를 전달하기 위해서는 위의 연구를 종합하여 무용 창작 작품 주제 확장 방안에 힘쓴다면 무용은 더 많은 주제와 작품개발을 통한 대중화와 발전을 이룰 수 있을 것이다. 주제어 : 기독교, 성화, 무용, 미술, 도상학, 미켈란젤로, 천지창조

This study expanded the ceiling painting of Genesis by Michelangelo from iconographical perspective and conducted a research on the value that performance art, as a creative dance, has on the expansion of theme of visual culture phenomenon. In modern society, mass-produced popular religious culture, by diversifying into visual culture, aural culture, interactive culture, and material culture, has convergent characteristic and is developing into various performance culture. Christian art has the purpose of showing the artist's religious faith through their work and delivering words of gospel to the public. Christian religious painting represents the faith towards religion, and the characteristics of the religion and faith of the artist is portrayed in the artwork, through which the existence of the absolute being and the experience is shown. Genesis of Michelangelo represents Christianity and is based on biblical story. Its visual image is displayed to the public not only in historical sense but also in a broad cultural sense, thus having a powerful impact. Its historical and the visual impact is produced and consumed by the public in mass amount, and is delivered to public in educational and commercial ways. Therefore, Michelangelo’s ‘Genesis’, which delivers its image as visual culture, was analyzed, and its function of expanding the theme of cultural phenomenon by embodying into popular religious culture was examined. Furthermore, by expanding visual image of artwork through enlarging the theme of creative dance work, new visual approach was made. Following are popular methods of enlarging theme of creative dance work through Christian art work. First, through research on various Christian art work and development of new contents, new direction must be given through expansion in not only creative dance work but also other various areas. Second, creative dance work must be made that can publicize the theme and background of artwork, which provides aspects of gospel through visual image, using dance and various stage art methods. Third, art works must be made that public can easily understand and satisfy their cultural desire using various methods combined as the expansion of art work through technical convergence. Fourth, for dance activity to develop in various ways through expansion of theme, new cultural creation must be made through understanding the flow of culture and generation. Lastly, two-dimensional imagery is combined with three-dimensional dance activity to become a religious art that is developed one step further, and it can be utilized in being the medium of delivering gospel to the public. By striving to expand theme of creative dance work by utilizing above research for the purpose of sending the public a message through performance, dance activity can experience greater popularity and development through variety of theme and work development.
