Letter is an abstract visual language. With this premise, learning letter comes to the same thing one of the means of communication. In this perspective, Hangeul education is equivalent to a deep-rooted in Hangeul design field.

Teaching and learning are in win-win relationship with each other that if learning is considered as a part of enlightenment, then various experiences from a given target also can become the learning of that target. Thus, various experiences of Hangeul are another form of learning for the learners and it is necessary to try in various ways to utilize Hangeul. However, from the decision of the researcher, efforts to inform and researches on the nature of prioritized Hangeul are rather low, plus felt insufficiency for being ambiguous for its standard and structure of utilization method with low efforts to inform.

Thus, the researcher improved essential role of Hangeul by identifying actual conditions through identifying current status of Hangeul education. In addition, it tried to support to set the reference standards on utilization methods by identifying essential characteristics of Hangeul through theoretical researches and investigations, plus attempted to give new tries for some of them by expressing into the works of researches.

Understanding of current situation on Hangeul education was conducted by surveys of the current Hangeul textbooks and teaching aids. It was able to find out non visible differentiation between alphabet and Hangeul textbooks, and considered as problem based on the fact that the characteristics of two letters are distinctly different. Researcher judged that part of this problem is because it did not consider characteristics of Hangeul into the education system, and felt necessity for the support of Hangeul textbook training which emphasizes characteristics of Hangeul where it is different from the alphabet.

Thus, researcher has organized characteristics of Hangeul based on Hunminjeongeum Haeryeobon (Explanation of Korean script’s creation meaning and utilization method), and was able to agree that Hangeul is the integration target through related research information. Therefore, researcher would like to judge as the hidden value of Hangeul, and provide character illustrated book that expose the integration of Hangeul.

First, it revealed the background and research purpose for focusing on the integration of Hangeul at the <introduction>.

In the <body>, it set up standards of character illustrated book through theoretical background and current status analysis.

In <chapter 1>, researcher organized characteristics of Hangeul by classifying its attributes, in other words, into sounds, shapes, and meanings. Further, it was able to find out that Hangeul contained certain structures and orders through the relationship of each attributes, and was able to agree for Hangeul’s new possibilities.

In <chapter 2>, it organized theoretical basis for the analysis standards which will be in <chapter 3> through the theory and survey related to <chapter 2> Hangeul shapes. In addition, it found out about current Hangeul training through the identification of the current Hangeul textbooks, in addition to the approximate survey on the current Hangeul education system. It set as problem for characteristics which were not reflected based on Hangeul characteristics of <chapter 1>, and organized current problems on Hangeul textbooks. Thus, it could obtain basis for the development of character illustrated book and set up the development standards.

In <chapter 3>, it organized analysis target and standard based on the current survey and theoretical basis from <chapter 1> and <chapter 2>.

In <chapter 4>, current Hangeul textbook analysis was realized based on the analysis standards of <chapter 3>. Also, it was able to confirm with the limitations and improvement directions of the current textbooks through the utilization letter shape analysis from learning textbooks, ranges of selected dates, and frequency surveys. Moreover, it confirmed for its development design framework through current character illustrated book case studies prior to the development of the draft, and decided standards of character shapes that will be used for the draft illustrated book through the understanding of character fonts which will be used in the illustrated books. In addition, it considered methods to solve expression methods and subjects through the textbook and work case study investigation which bases on the characteristics of Hangeul. Further, improvement direction was organized with current investigation and analysis results, and design direction was confirmed based on these.

In <chapter 5>, the draft of ‘Hangeul Character Illustrated Book reflecting integrated Hangeul quality’ which bases on the previous researches was presented.

Discovery on the values on hidden Hangeul, visual complexity on the characteristic shapes which were pointed as the problem in current Hangeul education, plus necessity parts on textbook materials which revealed characteristics of Hangeul were all presented with the work of the researcher. It is expected that the applicability on targets should be necessary with future complementary works.

Researcher observed endless possibilities of Hangeul through this research, and felt for the necessity efforts in order to find out Hangeul’s new possibilities. In addition, the researcher felt for the necessities for the standards and systems on the utilization of Hangeul and expression methods, hoping this research to become a good reference to set the standard, plus hopes to have more researches on the principles and systems of Hangeul.
