This study selected the entertainment programs which influence teenagers highly through TNS Media Korea. With the processes of collecting the data, analyzing the data, and digitizing the data, study surveys the subtitles which correct the media articulation errors.
Media articulation errors are largely classified into a phonological error, a lexical error, and a grammatical error. The errors that broadcasters make were various and many. Thus, there were many subtitles which correct the media articulation errors. The percentage of corrected subtitles differed by the types of programs; the entertainment programs showed the highest percentage of correction on subtitles, followed by the educational programs showed the second highest percentage of correction on subtitles, and the news programs showed the lowest percentage of subtitle which corrected the media articulation errors.
Most of the students who participated in the survey, which asked about the effectiveness on using corrected subtitles in Korean education, answered that they haven’t experienced the corrected subtitles as the material of the Korean class; however, the students showed interests teaching Korean class using corrected subtitles. In addition, three teaching methods are suggested to use the corrected subtitles on practical Korean class. Otherwise than the three teaching methods suggested above, subtitles should be used in many ways, and developed further.
There have been many researches on errors and misuses of media language. However, there have been few researches on subtitles correcting the errors of media articulation. In addition, there have been many researches pointing out and correcting the errors and the misuses of various media programs; however, there are almost none researches on subtitles correcting the errors of media articulation. Therefore, even there had been various researches on the subtitles which correct the media articulation errors during the study, this could not accomplish the high level research.
In conclusion, there should be many studies on the subtitles which correct the media articulation errors, and there should be more suggestions on Korean educational methods using the corrected subtitles.
