Education of Korean language pronunciation of high school students has been neglected in spite of its importance. Pronunciation education teaches standard Korean pronunciation, therefore, this education encourages students to concern about Korean language and its development.
Teaching pronunciation aims to monitor our own pronunciation and to pronounce korean like a standard language speaker when we speak in everyday lives. Pronunciation education should enable learners to correct their own sounds to their real lives. In this thesis, I am going to propose the significant ways of these matters.
This study analyzed errors found when high school students pronounce consonants and suggested concrete plans to teach high school students pronunciation in effective ways proper for properties of students.
In Ⅱ chapter, It examine substance of curriculum, a schoolbook and standard pronunciation regulations. and It analyzed the problem points which relate with pronunciation studying.
In Ⅲ chapter, I researched the actual state of observing the pronunciation actual condition of the high school students, and arranged the pronunciation mistakes. The arranged mistakes were divided into competence and performance factors.
In Ⅳ chapter, I proposed various teaching-learning methods in Pronunciation education, which are based on pronunciation actual condition investigation. `Perfect learning' through training is more efficient than `discovery learning' which is often used in learning new concepts and principles.
This thesis is significant. First, I suggested the learning contents for improving the abilities of pronunciation correction by investigating the pronunciation actual state. Second, I projected specific understanding strategies to be applied to speaking situation, reading and discussion speaking and dialogue speaking.
