본 논문은 박목월 동시에 나타난 환상성을 중심으로 연구하였다. 많은 동시들이 환상적인 요소를 가지고 있음에도 불구하고 이에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 때문에 본 논문은 환상성은 모방과 함께 동시의 생성 원리이고 본질적인 특성이며, 동시의 문학적·미학적 가치를 제고시키는 역할을 한다는 입장을 바탕으로 동시의 환상성을 규명하고자 하였다.
본 논문은 동시와 환상성의 관계를 알아본 뒤, 이를 바탕으로 박목월의 동시에 나타난 환상성을 구체적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 세 가지로 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 어릴 때의 추억이나 전래 설화, 전통 풍속 등을 소재로 선택하여 향토적인 정서를 나타냈으며, 그와 관련된 동화적 꿈의 세계를 그려내었다. 향토적인 정서와 관련된 환상성은 박목월이 어린 시절의 추억을 환상성 속으로 끌어들임으로써 발현되었다. 그는 순진무구한 어린이의 시각과 감성을 향토적인 시어를 활용하여 환상성으로 표현하였다.
둘째, 이국적인 풍물을 통하여 환상적인 이미지를 나타내었다. 이러한 작품들에서 시적화자는 사물을 있는 그대로 표현하는 것이 아니라 새로운 시각과 풍부한 상상력으로 맑은 마음과 아름다움을 표현함으로써 환상의 세계를 구현하고 있다. 이는 외래어를 활용하거나 외래 동화의 내용을 시 속에 끌어들여 서구적인 감수성을 촉발하고 환상성의 세계를 펼치는 방법을 취하는 특징을 보여준다.
셋째, 박목월은 종교적인 색채가 짙은 시들을 통해 초월과 구원을 향한 의지를 보여주면서 환상성의 세계를 구현하였다. 그는 ‘초록’의 색채어와 ‘하늘’, ‘빛’, ‘별’ 등과 같은 다양한 원형적 이미지 등을 활용하면서 수평적 공간으로부터 지상과 천상이 만나는 수직적 공간으로의 상승 구조를 통해 이상 세계를 지향하고, 이 이상 세계에서 창조주의 손길에 힘입어 새로운 구원을 구하고자 하였다. 즉 박목월은 종교적 이미지와 다양한 원형이미지로 이상 세계와 구원에 대한 의지를 표현하고자 노력하였고 이를 통해 환상적인 세계를 보여 주었다.
박목월의 동시에 나타나는 환상성의 세계는 맑고 밝은 이미지를 표현하기 위해 설정되었다고 볼 수 있다. 환상이 지배하는 세계를 통해 박목월은 동시에서 제한적일 수밖에 없는 표현의 문제점을 극복하였다. 그리하여 이 환상성은 동시만이 지니는 독특한 시적 형상화의 한 방법으로 자리 잡게 되었다. 그 결과 비로소 동시가 일반시의 영향력에서 벗어나 동시 자체로서의 독자적인 가능성을 얻게 된 것이다. 또한 그의 환상성의 세계는 시적 화자에게 사물을 재구성하여 환상의 세계로 나아갈 수 있는 새로운 시각과 청각을 제공하였다.

This is a study of the fantastic elements in the children's verses authored by Park Mok-wol. Although many children's verses have elements of fantasy, studies made on the subject are still not sufficient. Therefore, this study aims to explain fantastic elements as a matter of principle and as an intrinsic characteristic in children's verses, and how such fantasy uplifts the literary and aesthetic values of children's verses.
This studies the relation between children's verses and such fantasy and based on that, analyzes specifically the fantastic elements in Park Mok-wol's. The result from analyzing this is following as three aspects.
First, local emotions were presented from selected childhood memories, transmitted tales, and traditional customs, and used as materials for the children's verses, which were used to describe a dream-like world. Park Mok-wol, through his vivid imagination, made use of his childhood memories to create the fantastic world of his fairy tales.
Therefore, fantasy related to local emotions is presented through Park Mok-wol put his childhood memories into fantastic space and he presented innocent viewpoint and emotional level of children's as fantasy by using local poetic words.
Second, he presented fantastic imagery through exotic scenes. In this particular genre, the author does not present an object as it is, but describes it as fantastic world by presenting pure mind and beauty with new point of view and rich imagine. This means to make use of foreign language and to pull the contents of foreign fairy tales in verses so that these can induce Western sensibilities and get the way to present fantastic world.
Third, Park Mok-wol realized his fantastic world through a veil of transcendentalism and a concept of personal salvation, as shown in his poems with a religious orientation. He used color word (such as a color word 'blue') and sky, star and various images in pursuit of his ideology through the depiction of various vertical elements (such as rising structures) on horizontal planes (such as the ground), rising to meet the sky, as if conveying the idea of asking for salvation from the Creator. That is, He tried to present his longings for an ideal world and salvation by infusing religious imagery in his world of fantasy.
The fantastic elements in Park Mok-wol's children's verses were thus used by the author to present bright and vivid imagery. Through the fantasy world rules, Park Mok-wol also overcame the limitations imposed by his chosen craft, which consequently helped his own brand of fantasy become a standard for the genre. As a result, children's verses obtained independent possibility to escape from the stylistic influence of other forms of poetry.
Also, the fantastic world presented in Park Mok-wol's children's verses provided a new fantastic vision, with the poet reorganizing ordinary objects and advancing fantastic world.
