Consciously or unconsciously we are subjected to the psychological influence of colour and are even in its effect on our behavior.
It is very important that by the colour what kind of influence is added to a human being in his mental aspect and which emotion is evoked and colour association should be regarded as a foremost ingredient in this sense.
When looking at a certain colour, we usually associate the impressive accident which has happened a long time ago and we have tendency to link it with the colour.
Colour association is to help us think many details to be related to colour on seeing it.
The colour association brought us to difference for each person by the conditions such as experience, acknowledge, age, personality, culture, environment, vocation, period, the spirit of peoples. In spite of having same life, the type of colour association can be expressed differently by environment.
The association of the colour could be considered as the development of experience as for the colour. The every sense of the colour is a sort of pure contrasting sense and the selection and gusto of the colour is derived from the colour association, and besides lots of problems regarding the colour are deeply connected with the association.
From antique times the colour was thought to reflect image and a plenty of investigation and study with reference to the colour image has been made. Cvere measured the colour image by taking advantage of restrained association method which gets language image from colour image and free association method which takes wlouring image from language image.
This research was made by the same method. I could find it to be lacked in the basic materials of city and country, comparing with the previous theses on the colour association. This research that tried to approach to the Cvere's method which made use of a card focused on the reaction and result of the colour association and investigated (looked into) the efficiency about the method of approaching by contrasting with the prior theses.
Due to the limit of the capacity of personal investigation, I chose high school girls who Live in city and country as the object of the research and especially studied the representative agricultural area of the province of kyung Nam and Honam and the city of Seoul following the fashion sensitively.
The method of a question note was utilized and took the method that writes directly answer on the question note after distributing the note.
The colour card used the investigation chose thirteen basic colour mentioned by the Ministry of education. The colour that accurately made by Munsell colour system and korea industry standard was chosen with a view to doing this research.
This researcher analyzed the result of investigation for himself and totalized and put into the form of a diagram.
The result of investigation is as follows :
1. The rate of concrete association reaction was less than the rate of abstract association reaction.
2. The rate of reaction of high school girls in seoul is higher than that of the high school girls in country.
3. The high school girls in country have more association words concerning seasonal and natural environment.
4. Many association words that reflected the situation of contemporary times came out from this research investigated in sept, 1993 by this researcher comparing with preceding theses.
5. As the object was students, common association words such as student uniform and school things and the association words concerned with clothing and cosmetic was came out.
6. The girls in seoul have diverse and wide association words.
And there were many specific association words than previous theses. For example, pollution water, weared blue jean, push man in subway, Maphia, cabaret, orange tribe, acidity rain, duck down, kiwi, novie title, the name of advertisement goods.
There were so different from the width of association between city and country.
The country was nearly similar to the previous theses and judging from the distribution chart of colour as well as language of colour association. The country seems to have developmental prospect and yet, according to disturbance of colour name there were many words written by foreign language. It is considered to make us known the fact the profound education of colour and colour experience is requested. Even though it takes a growing interest in colour and many research institutes is established, I feel something lacking that the plan of education which can achieve the experience of colour has a big difference between city and country.
with the aid of enough concern and study of colour educators, the difference in city and country makes less through diverse and wide colour experience.
