The purpose of this study is to examine the politeness strategies of the Korean language used by Korean college students and analyze the realization patterns of the politeness strategies, as a basic study to apply the features of Korean college students’ discourse to Korean textbooks for foreign students. The studies of grammatical aspects on expressions of politeness are being researched mainly by honorific registers and the studies of sociolinguistic aspects are being researched mostly by the analysis of specific speech act. In the politeness theory suggested by Brown & Levinson(1987), people have two types of faces, the Positive face and the Negative face. People with a Positive face wants to be recognized by others, when people with a Negative face does not want to be disturbed. ‘Politeness’ is the compensation of the hearer’s damaged face when engaging in FTA(Face Threatening Act). Compensating the hearer’s positive face is ‘Positive politeness’ and compensating the hearer’s negative face is ‘Negative politeness’. The standards used to select the analysis materials, analysis scope and analysis outlines are introduced in chapter 3. The analysis outline is based on the politeness theory suggested by Brown & Levinson(1987). In chapter 4, positive politeness, negative politeness and off-record politeness used in TV drama, “Cheese in the Trap” is introduced. The analysis results of the use frequency and ratio of politeness strategies by social rank and social distance is shown as follows, 1. Regardless of social rank and social distance the positive politeness strategies are the most common strategies used overall. 2. Negative politeness strategies are used more frequently than positive politeness strategies if the hearer is socially high ranked and/or acquainted. 3. Off-record politeness strategies are commonly used by socially close distanced and socially high ranked dialoguers. Finally, as we can see from the results above it is conclusive to increase the use of Positive politeness strategies when developing textbook dialogues for foreign students studying Korean. And also, it is necessary to suggest various social relationships through social distances and social ranks for the students to choose appropriate politeness strategies in conversations. This study have promising academic significance as a basic study of Korean pragmatic competence education by analysing TV drama dialogues according to social variables and identifying Korean college students politeness strategies. ,免费韩语论文,韩语毕业论文 |
