This study is to investigate how multimedia is used in Korean classes and to find how teachers and students think about the role multimedia plays in Korean classes. In this study, questionnaires were conducted among 52 Korean teachers and 177 students at three universities in Busan and Ulsan. Data collection and analysis were completed based on survey results. The results show that teachers and students have different attitudes towards the use of multimedia in Korean classes. First, most of the teachers and the students agree that the usage of multimedia is helpful to Korean classes. However, the results also show that teachers usually have to spend a lot of time making Powerpoints and other files so that they can be prepared for their classes. Meanwhile, students also think that it takes a long time for them to study with multimedia equipment. Second, although using multimedia equipment in learning may be a little bit time-consuming, most of the teachers and students still think that it is necessary to use multimedia. Some of the students emphasize that they get improved a lot with the help of multimedia. Third, the results also show that the use of the multimedia can be a good way to keep teachers and students interested in classes. The use of multimedia can also help them learn more and share more. Fourth, the differences between the perceptions of teachers and students can be found in the effects of multimedia within various fields. Based on the survey results, it can be seen that teachers considered the use of multimedia to be the most effective in literature classes while students thought it to be the most effective in listening classes. Fifth, as for classroom environment, the possibility of equipment failure or malfunction of multimedia was chosen to be the biggest problem. To deal with it, Korean language institutions should keep managing multimedia equipment to improve classroom environments. Last but not the least, in accordance with the survey results, the Education Office, the Ministry of Education and also Korean teachers should realize the necessity of multimedia use in Korean classes and make efforts in finding the effective way to make the most of multimedia in Korean classes.
