A comprehensive classification system of foreign learners' possible errors during the process of learning Korean is established, and the purpose of this research is to build a development plan of 'Korean error dictionary'. There is already 'learner error dictionary' in other countries. However, there has not been developed a Korean error dictionary in Korea. It is essential to study of developing a Korean error dictionary. There are four key contents in this study. First, to establish a 'Korean error classification system' suitable for 'Korean error dictionary'; Second, to discuss the macro structures of 'Korean error dictionary'; Third, to discuss the micro structures of 'Korean error dictionary'; Fourth, to propose the desirable direction of Korean dictionary development. In Chapter 1, the purpose and necessity of the research is clarified, and the research methods and procedures are described. Furthermore, the academic and educational significance of this study is presented. In Chapter 2, the domestic and foreign prior research on the types of errors, and the Korean standard curriculum and items are analyzed to prepare the final 'Korean error classification system'. In addition, the foreign learner error dictionary is reviewed, and the direction of 'Korean error dictionary' is set up and the contents are outlined through the error dictionary user investigation. In Chapter 3, the selection and arrangement of the headwords in 'Korean error dictionary' is discussed. In Chapter 4, the details of the "Korean error dictionary" are established, and the method for describing the details is discussed. In chapter 5, the desirable direction of 'Korean error dictionary' is proposed at last. The overall significance and limitations of this study are summarized as follows. This study shows the possibility of dictionary covering all types of Korean errors by presenting a method of selecting the headwords based on 'Korean error classification system'. And then, a possible dictionary is introduced that users can constantly add and expand error examples, and participate by exhibiting the 'open online dictionary'. From this, a development method of 'Korean error dictionary' that can reflect diverse needs of dictionary users and meet various purposes is discussed. This research is meaningful in that it sought to develop a new dictionary that has not been discussed before. Despite these efforts, however, this study has limitations in various aspects. Firstly, the content of the key headwords list may be not 100% correct, since the importance of error occurrence frequency can not be grasped thoroughly. 'Error dictionary' is an open dictionary, and these results have blank space for modification and expansion. It does not have a big effect on the development of the present standpoint. However, it is necessary to elaborate more in the future. Secondly, in the 'selection of headwords', there is a problem that the category of 'vocabulary and pronunciation' in which the corresponding headword is not described in detail compared to the 'grammar and expression' category. Since the category of 'vocabulary and pronunciation' is difficult to predict compared to the category of 'grammar and expression', the corresponding item has to be selected as a headword, but it is difficult to say that these items are precise. Although this method is considered to be the best method to select at present, if the amount of 'vocabulary and pronunciation' error examples are ensured as the increasing of learner corpus in the future, this item may be further elaborated. Thirdly, this study has the ultimate goal of establishing the development plan of 'Korean error dictionary'. Thus, precise description of each headword is not available. It is difficult to describe the heading example in all cases, because of the large size of data. This will need to be supplemented gradually through subsequent discussions. Finally, the error dictionary is constructed as 'open dictionary' because of 'infinity of learner error'. Therefore, this study holds blank space for possibility of revision and expansion. As the learner corpus accumulates, it is expected that the parts to be corrected and complemented will be found steadily as they are applied directly to this model. This discussion also should continue in the future.
