In multicultural society, due to the increase of second marriage of international marriage family, number of children coming to Korea who stayed in their motherland is increasing. Most of those children are elementary school students who learn their language, culture and set their value system in motherland during their childhood when their linguistic input is most vigorous. After coming to Korea, they experience conflict with unfamiliar culture and value, which cause identity crisis and huge stress from learning new language. Likewise, for the students who are unable to express their thoughts freely due to difficulty in communication, musical play can provide significant opportunity to express their thoughts in various ways. Especially, by using traditional fairy tale which has characteristics of oral literature as the material of musical play, it enables linguistic education suitable to the level of immigrant elementary school student, and affect positively to building value system and Korean culture. In the process of making musical play, by providing the field for students to actively participate through group work, it can help them improve communication skill and develop their personality. Therefore, this proposed necessity and purpose of Korean education method using musical play based on traditional fairy tale to not only provide separated education of language, culture, society and emotion but to educate all together. As for the study method, the study first examined significance of traditional fairy tale which will be used for the education, and examined the education method and effect using music and play which occupy significant part of musical play. Then, the study proposed educational value of musical play in Korean education. Following this, the study proposed selection standard of traditional fairy tale proposed by previous studies as musical play in Korean education, and researched for similar tales from China, Japan and Vietnam targeting international students and marriage migrant women. There were 5 tales that are similar ; <Euijoeun Hyeongje>, <Geumdoggi, eundoggi>, <Haewa dari doen onui>, <Seonnyeowa namooggun>, <Heungbuwa Nolbu> .Among these, the study selected <Haewa dari doen onui> which suits the previously provided linguistic educational, formational, social and emotional standard. Then, the musical play curriculum principle was proposed and based on this, the class was composed of orientation-story telling stage, musical play creation stage, integrated activity stage, performance and evaluation stage and proposed the actual plan of Korean education and teaching and learning activity using musical play. This has proposed Korean education method using musical play targeting immigrant elementary school students which could help development in speaking, listening, reading and writing, and improvement of linguistic ability through vocabulary and cultural education. Also, as the class is focused on communication, it enables active learning and provides a field of learning where students can express themselves. Therefore, it will be effective to improving communication and social, emotional skill, furthermore, promote whole personal growth.
