However, relatively little is known about clergy’s vocal characteristics. This study was to investigate male pastors’ multi-dimensional vocal characteristics by the acoustic, aerodynamic, and perceptual analysis and compared with those of non-occupational voice users. A total of 30 subjects(15 male pastors and 15 non-professional voice users age matched) participated in this study. For acoustic analysis, fo, %jitter, %shimmer, and NHR were measured using MDVP with sustained /a/vowel while speaking fundamental frequency(SFF), Minimum Sfo, and Maximum Sfo using Real-Time pitch with a ‘Kaeul’ sentence. In addition, CPP, CPP_sd, CPPfo, CPPfo_sd, L/H ratio, and L/H ratio_sd were measured using ADSV with both /a/vowel and a ‘Kaeul’ sentence. For perceptual analysis, GRBAS ‘G’ and VHI were conducted by two speech-language pathologists specialized in voice more than two years and participants, respectively. For aerodynamic analysis, Phonation Time(PHOT), Mean Expiratory Airflow(MEA), and Expiratory Volume(FVC) in MXPH task and Mean Peak Air Pressure(MPAP), Aerodynamic Efficiency(AEFF) in VOEF task were also measured using PAS. Moreover, the relationship between ‘G’ and amount of occupational voice use, VHI, acoustic, aerodynamic parameters The result showed that %jitter and CPP were significantly different between groups in acoustic parameters(p<.05). For aerodynamic analysis, significantly lower AEFF was exhibited in clergy group(p<.05). In addition, significantly higher total VHI, and sub VHI parameters(VHI-P, VHI-F, VHI-E) were observed in clergy group(p<.05). In GRBAS, there was significantly different between group(p<.05); All participants in non-occupational voice user group rated ‘G0’ while 8/15(53.3.%)in ‘G1’, 6/15(40.0%)in ‘G0’, 1/15(6.7%) in ‘G2’ in clergy group. In addition, relatively higher correlation was found between ‘G’ and %jitter, CPP in vowel, CPP, CPP_sd, CPPfo in sentence, VHI-P, VHI-E, VHI-T. Accordingly, majority of clergy showed poor voice quality, acoustic, and voice efficiency. In addition, clergy group demonstrated higher voice handicap in daily life and occupational needs. Moreover, vocal abuse and misuse behaviors were also detected. Therefore, vocal hygiene and education should be needed to prevent voice problems for clergy at risk of voice disorders as occupational voice users.
