A Study on the Solution for Enhancement of Chinese Students Spoken Korean by Using Films for Discussion as the Solution Korean films are used in this thesis as materials for class discussion. Through the discussion of films materials, the Korean speaking competency of Chinese students can be improved especially the skill when expressing themselves. Recently, with the rapid development of international tie between China and Korea, the capability of communicating with native Korean proficiently has been the prime goal of China. In order to improve the speaking skill of Korean leaners, class discussion is selected as the teaching methodology for conducting Korean speaking classes. As the leaners are using Korean as the medium for discussion, thus, the research target in this are Chinese who have met middle and advanced Korean competency. With the aim of motivating the Korean learners to participate in the discussion, this study emphasizes films as the discussion materials so that the films can be an interesting topic to the learners, which in turns increase the learners’ participation level. Firstly, the current trend and issues of Chinese students when learning Korean has been analyzed. The issue arise during the speaking classes has also being discussed so that the necessary solutions can be identified. The methodology of selecting the films which are the most appropriate for class discussion had also been discussed. Unlike the usual utilization of films materials, in this thesis, films are used as the background materials for discussion. This implies that sociality, story element and interestingness of the films will be focused when selecting the films. With the selection of “도가니” and “미녀는 괴로워” in this thesis, the policy issue is picked as topic for "도가니" whilethevalue issue is picked as topic for "미녀는 괴로워". Features of those topics are analyzed and the arguments are found out by discussion, and also, the rules of what the participants should perform and how the participants perform are pointed out in order to achieve the best discussion impact. Finally, the topic “Shall we carry out plastic surgery just for the sake of beauty” is used as an example for class discussion. When it comes to the learning of Korean speaking skill, it is the hope of this thesis that it can be a catalyst for Chinese who learn Korean, whereby the Korean proficiency of Chinese can be improved through the discussion of interesting topics.
