A study on the selection of Tasks of Korean for Occupational Purpose targeted at International students : focused on the Needs Analysis This study is to select the tasks for international students' Korean for Occupational Purposes, and to apply to learning circumstances. Authentic tasks are selected for international students learning their majors and liberal arts at institutions of higher education, which are useful in the workplace and for the domestic employment after graduation. Also, it will contribute to the economic growth and the international exchange by keeping and settling high-quality human resources. In Chapter 1, the introduction, the purpose of this research is suggested and the method of study is discussed after a review of the precedent study in terms of the present condition, development of curriculum and teaching materials, and educational contents of Korean for Occupational Purposes. The object of the study is restricted to international students. The discussion starts with the presentation of the necessity of assignments for Korean for Occupational Purposes in higher education. In Chapter 2, the theoretical background is examined, which has affected setting an overall subject: the selecting the task of Korean for Occupational Purposes and its application. This chapter helps build the basis for the discussion through understanding the Korean for Occupational Purposes, linguistic characteristics, the concept of the given tasks, and studies on a needs analysis. In Chapter 3, analysis for the primary selection of tasks of Korean for Occupational Purposes is conducted. First it is referred the International comparative study on national language curriculums and language education policies, each of the job performance language task. the necessity of job performance tasks for learners of Korean as a foreign language is recognized, and the application to appropriate program development is expected. Then, the primary(1st) academic tasks and job performance tasks, their specific tasks are selected respectively through analyzing and organizing the precedent studies on tasks for Korean of Specific Purposes. In Chapter 4, the procedure of investigation of request and the analytical tool for selecting the task for Korean for Occupational Purposes are mentioned. Also, a preliminary research is carried out targeting international students in higher education, korean employees who had worked or are working with foreigners, and the experts in charge of korean-related education or tasks. Secondary(2nd) job performance tasks are selected through pre-analysis, revision, and supplementation. In Chapter 5, principal research on respective subjects are conducted in detail, covering secondary(2nd) job performance tasks, and the necessity and the demand of the tasks are analyzed. Through this process, practical job performance tasks helpful for the international students' studies and the application to workplace are suggested. In Chapter 6, job performance tasks for international students are selected, arranged, and re-organized, focused on the result of previous requirement analysis. Thereafter, Through the connection of the selected academic tasks and the job performance tasks, applying methods, including practices and utilization in leaning situations are suggested. Chapter 7 explains the significance of this study along with the limit of this research, and is followed by proposals.
